Bush Plan: Social Security for 'Legalized' Illegal Aliens

(CNSNews.com) - Illegal aliens who work under borrowed, stolen or fraudulent Social Security numbers could collect retirement benefits based on their illegal earnings as the result of a Bush administration plan. Critics charge the federal government has grossly underestimated the cost of the proposal, which they believe could run be billions of dollars per year.

i'm so sick of people who cheat their way into the states getting all the benefits that the poor americans don't or can't because we don't have five children and a migrant worker to father them all.

it's bad enough that i get social security and medicare taken out of my check that i may never get to see, but the idea that some illegal will be getting that money while elders in our country are having to take on a job after retirement just makes me wonder what our government really cares about.

I like the idea of open borders.

Immigration is one area that Bush has been absolutely horrible about. A lot of Republicans are pissed at him about this. He's doing it because both parties have decided that they need to attract the Mexican vote to win future elections. The stupid thing is, Mexican-American Republicans, and there are a lot of them, also want the border secured.

Nope. I realize its impractical and dangerous, but to ever have absolute freedom, I don't think there should be a wall around the country. Be it a wall of stone or a wall of paperwork.

I truly don't understand that..

This whole thing is really messed up because the whole immigration process is flawed, but nobody seems to really want to change it. I understand that illlegal immigrants want to help their families back home, but what really needs to be understood is that if they want better conditions, they are going to have go back home and try to make the conditions better for themselves and their children. However, I think it is funny that people are complaining about them taking jobs when they are getting jobs that pay minimum wage or less that a lot of Americans don't take anyway. Anyways, this thing needs to be seriously addressed and dealt with in some way.

I like Mexicans. They're hard workers.

Just the ones who fear la migra. The ones who dont tend to be like blacks and puertoricans.

No. Reagan did the last big amnesty. Bush would like to do another amnesty, but so far he's being held in check by members of his own party.
