He faces one federal count of intentionally causing damage to a protected computer. If convicted, he could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

He's a big fella, gonna take up a lot of room in his cell. He's an economic terrorist, caused billions of dollars in damages, just for kicks. Give him ten years of hard time in maximum security and these stunts will become very rare.

He has modified the origiinal blaster virus so not all the damages can be credited to him alone. And while his knowledge is probably quite extensive I doubt that any company would be eager to hire someone like this. Especially since he was caught because of his own stupidity. Mitnick was a Hacker, not some lame ass virii spreader. Companies fear virii far more than hackers. And as stated on foxnews, he just altered the virus he did not create it.
