I`ve wondered for a long time, why is it so many people like pretend to be "enlightened". what is it that is so enchanting about magick is it the "I can kill with my mind" crap?in my humble opinion, 'witches' appear as the biggest collection of losers I have ever encountered...generally speaking. I really have a hard time keeping a straight face when a person introduces themselves as one,they might want to see a therapist for their kind of fantasies.

Dearest Red...my guess is someone really turned you off to the concept...and for the most part I agree with you(about the kill with mind part)...people who use "the art" as a means to gain control, power or domininance(whether real or perceived)do not bear a right to call themselves "witches".

Than you need to see what type of person they are and how they use the term witch...it's so generic and cliche right now that I too doubt many when they say "hey i'm a witch, and I can do things with my mind" That to me is the difference between being enlightened and being a loser...realizing that there are limitations...and everyone deludes themselves a little...those who tend to have a more granduer approach, usually have so little in their lives that they have to make themselves seem more than they are...

I know what you mean Red. I knew this total tarded guy who had a rune around his neck (The rune was the symbol for male by the way) and told everyone it was his protection talisman! I touched his walking stick and he said that he could now control everything I do. I asked if he wanted his tarot read by me (I read tarot but I don't believe that they hold mystic powers, I believe that tarot has a card for everyones situation and has the power of suggestion...) and he said no because he can control what card comes out of the pack cuz hes a 'realy powerful witch'.... In my opinion it is much like prayer...they are slowly proving that there is a section of the brain that is stimulated when one is thinking spiritually, giving them a sense of euphoria...it's a mindset that people can achieve...science has proven some pretty amazing thing(mostly with buddhist monks)that are able to do what some would call "magick" it just comes down to them having such a focus they go into a delta(i think) mind state, when their brain waves slow down to a point that they trascend a conscience...it takes more than a threat to do something to someone, and the people who have that ability are usually wise enough not to wield it for such "frivolous" endeavors as curses, hexes and spells...

I'd say there is some difference between a witch, and a vampire. Wicca is a very old religion which was based in herbalism and of course is based in history and factual accounts, so when someone says they are a witch then, yeah, they probably are. The phychic thing is a little different and most probably comes from fantasy. Although empathy isn't a phychic ability, everyone has that, more so, or less so. Its amazing what you can tell about people from even the most basic forms of communication, writing style, body language, even the speed at which someone talks.

Vampires on the other hand, in modern day form came almost entirely from fiction and folklore with no real history and is completely different from people who drink blood, which does have history in cannibalism etc. etc.

You can't really take someones attitude to one group and transfer it to another group of people. Personally, my attitude to vampires is 'Of course you are!' and smile and nod, while I am far more willing to accept what people believe about when they say they are a witch / wicca practiser.

Pychic abilities are usually misunderstood acts of empathy.
