Has anyone heard about this ? Is this another news item we don't hear about in US News ?
Published on Friday, September 6, 2002 in the Telegraph/UK 100 Jets Join Attack on Iraq
About 100 American and British aircraft took part in an attack on Iraq's major western air defence installation yesterday in the biggest single operation over the country for four years. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0906-07.htm To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Didn't hear a thing, and I watch CNN every weekday for at least an hour or more. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

In fact, I wonder when the first "Iraqi attack on US military" will occur, starting a full out assault (a la the beginning of the Vietnam war and many before that). Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

I'm inclined to not believe a report from a company I've never heard of that hasn't been verified, especially when it's written by someone named "Michael Smith". (Michael Smith being assumably the most common name on Earth, since it combines the most common first name with the most common last). When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

It was all over the news in the U.K. I mentioed it to another amercian and he told me I was lying because he hadn't seen it on CNN and we all know CNN is to be trusted especially after the whole 9/11.

sounds more like a no-fly-zone retaliation for shooting at patroling fighters... ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

The point is, we here in the US hear NOTHING about this stuff; when we do, and it goes on news sites, it disappears within the week.
Have to love a society in which everything is kept secret from the citizenry. Has anyone read "Fahrenheit 451"? Remember that war? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

um... but we still have books, and social commentary, and I for one (like i said elsewhere) would rather only have two or three hours notice for a war like that so's i can get my jones on... so there ___Nick_the_Rogue___ To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Yeah, I was talking about one frickin aspect of the book , not the whole thing. Just, the complacency of the people, the "We're number one" type patriotic speech, all of that stuff.
And I for one would like at least a week's notice so I can get out of the country, to some good, safe, hideaway (unless nukes are involved, in which case I'll have to wait many years, until my underground home is finished ; not just "underground" but UNDERGROUND ). No, I'm not delusional, but it'd be cool. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

I think the whole "The US/Israel is a big bad alliance that wants to keep it's evil secret and crushes anyone bold enough to criticize them!" thing died out about the time people started realizing that everyone and their mother was insulting the US and Israel, Sir. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

I haven't mentioned Israel, thank you . Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

There have been many attacks like this over the past decade to enforce the no fly zone.
They used to report these things in the early 90's, but after awhile it becomes routine and hardly newsworthy.
You guys are just making much ado about nothing. This is obvious propaganda on your part to undermine the US war effort.
Do you guys really love Sadam Hussien that much? If so, then why not just join the Iraqi army? I am sure that you will get a portrait of Saddam Hussien to hang up on your wall at home if you were to enlist. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. There weren't enforcing the no fly zone these were hitting radar instaliations and ground defences.....
If they were so worried about them they'd be consistantly doing it.

Hmm... yes, I see where I said I love Saddam, yep, indeedy.
Have you not considered what will happen if we undermine the UN's authority yet again, on something this big? It'll be the League of Nations once more (remember when Germany and Japan just "poof" left the League?). Prepare for many little wars around the globe as big countries conquer little countries.
It doesn't matter if the new government is "democratic", by nature of how it works, any government instituted in a foreign country is a puppet government. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."
