Good and evil are things created by us, humans... so if you are good, or if you are evil, it doesn't really matter at all... since good and evil differ from person to person, seeing as no two people are the same.

i think that's very much true. But (there's always a but somewhere, a catch on the line, lol.) it's the humans that normally do this...the objects that they use for evil or good are actually neutral. so when you use a knife to cut a pie (hmm...pumpkin pie...) that's like doing good only since the knife is serving you to just cut the food that you want to eat. it's the person's mind that decides what is evil and good. the knife by itself doesn't do anything, it's just an object that simply be. take the same knife and use it to cut your wrist. you'd think that would be evil only to a good person because it symbolizes a bad thing that only society says is bad. we all base everything we do and say on what other people think. why else have we come up with the saying "Think before you speak"? Society is dominate in this culture we all live in...because if it isn't, we wouldn't be here now talking. we'd be somewhere else. i don't know where i would be either, but personally, society defines the rules and world we live in. if there were no society...then where would the concepts of good and evil reside?

This isn't anything new. Here's my opinion on the whole thing:

Christians took all the things that were natural to human beings (lust, greed, and all that), and then they made them look bad. They said "These are terrible things. The only way you can be forgiven for doing these things is if you come to church and pay us." They made up the devil in order to try to scare people into converting to their religion. I'm sure it was easy for the people who wrote the Bible to say that men will indulge in their natural desires, because that's just what they are...natural! You may be right that the people at the time that this was written were not lustful or greedy, but this is because all of the people were Christians! The people who wrote the Bible tried to cover the truth with their lies, and then they tried to shock everyone when they announced what the truth was. I'm sure they are glad that there are people like you alive.

DM, i can sort of provide how the Christians got their hands on the creation of how the Christian Devil came into being...
hm, do you remember the Crusades? that started, lemme see, as a result of fighting for God, or so the people there believed, in the holy wars to try to reclaim land from the "Pagans", those people the Christians considered "unclean". they looked into some aspects of the Pagain religion and when they came up on the Horned God, i think some decided to make up the Devil based on the Horned God from their rituals. Oh, this is still debatable because i've read some texts written to the reference of their religion's history and the above was one of the issues of how they came up with the Devil. of course the Christians made everything that ever felt good look bad, simply because they based their assumptions on the fact (as it was called fact in their ideals) that feeling good and healthy was bad for you, and so was Magic, the energy raising part of the religion. at least i'm very sure on this part, as several of the books i've read, they all agree that the Old Religion came first several thousand years before Christianity was ever formed. the Bible never really did say anything about actually trying to destroy one religion for another, it merely said that God "wanted the people to spread the holy word". *mutters as she flips her pages in the Bible*......Granted, the Bible was really written by the hands of men, but they believed they were guided by God himself as they wrote their books. on a great show i watched about Jesus, some of the professors that talked about the word of God thought that the miracles they performed actually may have started out as advertisements! oh, and look up James 3:13-15, in the last part of the verse, and i quote: "This wisdom does not decend from above, but is earthy, sensual, demonic." the wisdom they were talking about was the wisdom of the Old Religion, whom they prosecuted. (did i spell that word right?)

Anyway, the Devil has existed in Christian-Judaic theology since before the founding of Babylon. And a) Paganism didn't have a Devil-figure, not to mention b) There were no Pagans within five hundred miles of where the Crusades were fought.

ah, thank you for the word, i think that was what i was looking for. but hmm....the Devil did exist in those times, but i meant to say it never existed when the Old Religion existed then, about 3,000 years before the creation of the other three major religions. and i never said Paganism had a devil-figure, sheesh. what i meant is that the Christians long ago decided to try to squash the Old Religion down, and what better idea than coming up with the Devil? they merely took the idea of the Pagan Horned God (i respect him greatly) and used him up as some stupid idea to say that he was the Devil in a sense, for their own religion to scare people into good behavior, hm? that's my personal opinion, is all. as for there being no Pagans when the Crusades were fought.....hmm......you're right, i was thinking of the Burning Times while typing it up, heh. Mistake on my part, sorry. but the Burning Times did result as a way for the Holy Church (whatever it was called in those days) to regain the Christians back since some were being converted to Paganism because Paganism was more believeable than that of the One and Only God whom acted jealous because of others worshiping idols: again my personal opinion.
