Recently, my friend found a forum that was pro-annorexia. It made me realize that a lot of people are annorexic, and they don't see it as a problem. I don't think annorexia is a serious problem, but a personal decision of whether to eat, or not to eat.

I wanted to get other's opinions on this subject.

anorexia is an issue of control, not vanity. i think bulimia is more of a vanity related issue.
both are addictions. few people realize that. anorexia gives the anoretic a feeling of control when really said person is being controlled by the condition.
the best thing you can do for an anorexic person is simply care about them. when people show they care about them, it makes them feel more and more responsible for their own health. but whatever you do, don't shove your concern for them down their throats (no pun intended).

wanna hear something fucking wickedly funny?! dayton and colombus ohio, which is where i am at, is the fucking fattest region in all of United States....we have the fattest fucking people here man!!!!! there's this one girl....we call her "Big Bertha".....she is so goddamn fat that sometimes you will find her in class standing up in the back because she can't fit in any lecture seat anywhere.....even though Wright State University is also the Nations leading university in the number of disabled people......she can't even sit in the "Special Needs" section.......how fucked up is that?!

That's sad. I don't know what to say to that...If i were like that, i would do something about it, but then again some people can't do anything about it, really. My aunt has a gland problem, and she weighs about 240 pounds, and she eats almost nothing but salad. It's sad that some people can't control their eating until it gets out of control. Some people see food as a comfort rather than just...food. I do sometimes, but not to the point where I'm extremely overweight.. although, i am a bit chubby, i'm not a walking house.

My girlfriend's daughter has a friend that set up a pro-bulemia website. She's convinced that it's the best weight loss program ever. It's amazing how such a bright young girl can be so amazingly stupid.

Of course they don't see it as a problem. Anorexia nervosa is a mental disorder. Crazy people don't believe they're crazy...

Well, i'm not annorexic, but i dont think it's an incredibly huge problem... some of the obese people in america could use a little annorexic tendencies. I do think that it's a problem if it becomes an addiction, or if you're so tiny that you're heading towards death...

but if you're 300 pounds and 5'2"...

because food is becoming such a convenience, i have an unction that this is adaptation.

most anorexic people i've known were anorexic for strange purposes, nothing vanity related. they know how sickly their faces are, and if they wanted to be pretty they'd eat.

There are a number of reasons a person would be anorexic, bulemic, etc. Mainly control and vanity/appearance. It starts out that you just want to lose a little weight so you think, hey if I don't eat I will lose. But eventually your perspective changes. And to you, eating 500 calories worth of food a day is alot and you've let yourself down.

So that can continue and you feel guilty for eating, so why not throw it up? Or if you restrict too much, your body will crave food and nutrients causing you to binge, and then if you are mia, to purge.

Personally, if a person were ana because they wanted to improve their appearance, they wouldn't purge because that ruins your teeth and mouth and all the rest of that stuff there, which just makes you uglier. But then if you are really anorexic, and you're mind has been changed so much that you do see girls who are emaciated (sp) and think thats beautiful, then I guess it wouldn't matter...

Compulsive Overeating is really a sad eating disorder. Because even if you really try to be Ana, you will always end up overeating, without your control. And that really sucks because if you're ana to have control over something, you've just lost it. And it's also annoying, because no matter how bad you want to not eat, sometimes you just can't help it.

I was looking at a poll that some girls took who have been diagnosed with an ED, and they were asked if they think their ED controls them, or if they control it. And most of the girls know that they are controlled by their ED, because once you get into it, it's very hard to get back out.

In my opinion, when you have an ED you do have control over something. You have control over what food you eat or don't eat, and if you throw it up and also how much you are going to exercise to burn off the food you chose to eat. But you do not have control over if you're ever going to be normal again. That wasn't said very well... basically you can control what you eat, but once you start controlling that it becomes your whole life no matter how bad you want to get out of it. You will constantly worry about your weight and what you're eating and if you've gained or if you're losing, and you can't get out of that state without outside help.

I don't know what else to say. I don't think I made my point clear at all... if I even had a point.

Personally I feel that it's a sign that our culture is dying. That and depression and anxiety disorders.

why is it that you don't hear about many anorexic men?

is it some malfunction in women?

no. men aren't as apt to admit to it since it's believed to be a feminine thing.

i know plenty of men with eating disorders and a few that have gotten past it.

i don't know it seems that most men try to act like a steriotypical "man" you know like thinking that crying is for girls, taking to much time in the bathroom is for girls and trying not to give a shit about much,
whereas you'll find that deep down most of them realy do care but are just to scared to show it in fear of being labled a girl......
