| The 9-11 Cash Cow! -
10-03-02
K folks, i'm sure that most of you that come here often have gotten this email, or heard it on radio/TV.
But as much a i feel for the 9/11 victims and there families, This is just TO much.. Course this was said half a year ago. And may have been posted before(i haven't seen it). I hope that it opens some peoples eyes about why Bush is trying to keep the war going.. He needs the money back!!!
What's a Military Family Worth?
by Rush Limbaugh, March 11, 2002
I think the vast differences in compensation between the victims of the
September 11th casualty, and those who die serving the country in uniform,
are profound.
No one is really talking about it either because you just don't criticize
anything having to do with September 11th. Well, I just can't let the
numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the
entitlement mentality of this country.
If you lost a family member in the September 11th attack, you're going to
get an average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of
$250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.
If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in
action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of
which is taxable. Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the
surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there's a
payment of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18,
those payments come to a screeching halt.
Keep in mind that some of the people that are getting an average of $1.185
million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough. We also
learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City
bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the;
September 11th families are getting.
In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies
are now asking for compensation as well. You see where this is going,
don't you? Folks, this is part and parcel of over fifty years of
entitlement politics in this country.
It's just really sad. "Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of
emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."-Adlai E.
Stevenson, Jr.
Every time when a pay raise comes up for the military they usually receive
next to nothing of a raise. Now the green machine is in combat in the
Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in
low rent housing.
However our own U.S. Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of
you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one-time to receive a
pension that is more than $15,000 per month and most are now equal to be
millionaires plus.
They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't
have to pay into the system. If some of the military people stay in for 20
years and get out as an E-7 you may receive a pension of $1,000 per month,
and the very people who placed you in harms way receive a pension of
$15,000 per month.
I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks
before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and
daughters who are now fighting. "When do we finally do something about
this ??"
If this doesn't seem fair to you, it is time to forward this to as many
people as you can Beware the ex's.. They ARE out to get you... Nice guys finish last It isn't just a saying.. It's a fact of life! Those things that produced your ex......you know, the bitchmakers! Metagion

When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

The main difference is simple......
Soliders are paid to be ready to die. That's their lot in life. I know it's harsh but there is no enforced enlisting in the U.S.
The sept 11th victims were all insured Civilians who paid for their death benefits by way of working for their employer or directly to an insurer. They did not say yes I accept the chance I will die because of military action.

Are damned to all our hearts content.

Some pleasure for our punishment..."

Not from the U.S.'s perspective but from that of Al-Queada it was
Even if you extend the notion that it wasn't a military action form any point of view then you'll again ahve another reason for the difference
They died and had not chose to do so. Soliders choose to risk their lives.

Neon | not really, it wasnt a military action on thier side as well, considering most of thier leaders "condemned" the attacks. In order for there to be a military strike the governing body must do it, not a group of lunatics with too much time and money.
And a soldier not involved in a war, or involved in a battle who is unknowingly blow up or killed would be worth the same as a civilian. a tragedy either way. Like that whole bit last year or the year before when that american ship got hit with the bombers.

"The difference between a patriot and a traitor is merely with the times." Gosh, I botched that quote; I'll redo it later (it's from "The Count of Monte Cristo" the movie; a Bonaparte supporter speaking).
Regardless of whether or not they had an officially recognized government behind them, THEY called it a military strike; just because Al Qaeda isn't recognised as its own governing body doesn't change the attack in the least.
Furthermore, if leaders condemned them, why did we attack Afghanistan? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

Neon | Actually, this is not based off of insurance benifits.. This is money the gov. has been doling(sp?) out to them... U.S. tax dollars at work.. A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, con a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly.
Specialization is for insects!!
amazing how much they look like orchids, isn't it!!

Of all the strange "crimes" that human beings have legislated out of nothing, "blasphamy" is one of the most amazing--with "obscenity" and "indecent exposure" fighting it out for second place.

No, it's not. It's largely money coming from donations by Americans who were emotionally affected by the event. It may not be fair or make sense, but it's not the government's stupidity, it's the people's. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

that money (23% of wich is unaccounted for still) is totally different.. These are cash bennies from the government, the one that feels bad for all who die from there foozbars..
unless, of course, your IN the military.. then your just pig-feed.. Funny, this just might be someone who's had to go months wearing shoes that were literally held together by tape and who's experienced Christmases where there were no presents talking, but $256,000 and $833 a month on top of that doesn't exactly sound like "pig feed" to me. Honestly, the military is so completely self-righteous it sickens me at times. How about construction workers? They risk their lives as much as anyone in today's military does, more so in many cases, and they receive less compensation for it, and absolutely no glory or gratitude. In fact, they're looked down on. So don't get all fucking self-righteous just because some people have it better than you, because there people who are a lot worse off. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. I don't know about too much of this argument, but I do know that my father was working a job for $16000 a year in the Air Force that made $40k in the Midwest in the private sector. Fine then the government is paying out a settlement in the courts to it's people for september 11th as a means of preventing legal action form the apparent ramnifications of their negligence with oversees affairs.
Standard Tort law. Even if it's not insurance based (and it will be heavy funded by insurance companies irrespective of what any of you say) then the government will simply be averting anyone suing them for negligence in a class action.

in the U.K. The government CAN be sued. If the government can't be held liable for it's negligence then how do you hold it responsible?
If not go after the airports ofr their negligence in not having adaquate security. As the airports are currently being baile dout by the U.S. government, then you are effectively suing the government.
I have heard cases of the U.S. government being sued under public international law. It can be sued, the payouts were just a pre-emptive emasure to ensure that when they start paying out the other countries for their lack of internal airport security.
There are ways and means to do anyhting.

The US government can be sued. The State HAS to be able to be a defendant if it is to be a prosecutor. That doesn't guarantee that the RIGHT part of the government will get in trouble if they lose a case, but it's still possible.
DrkTiggs: My point is, why not complain about the people who die constructing public highways, bridges, dams, and the like, and how little the government compensates them? Or about the postal workers who died from Anthrax?
I mean, it's like the scene in the Fellowship of the Ring (the book). Boromir is complaining that Gondor alone keeps the forces of Mordor at bay, and that for all their trouble they receive much thanks but little help. Then Aragorn points out that the Rangers who protect the North don't receive either help or thanks, instead being scorned. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.
