Okay, I've always used a program called PhotoLine for Image editing and whatnot until recently. Sine I've been using my Mac, I've had to get myself a copy of Photoshop. I've figured out most of it. Most of what I need, anyway. But I've got a couple of questions for you Photoshop users out there:

Is there a way to break the layers? Say, taking a form from the background layer and creating its own layer? I know that I can use the magnetic lasso to outline the form and copy as a layer, but for forms with more complexity, that method becomes rather painstaking. Is there another way?

Also, does Photoshop not support GIF format? Mine seems to have problems when trying to save one.

I'm sure there will be more questions later, but that's it for now.
