Oh fuck..... the worst thing they did was the performance based sliding pay scale.... better three month performance review the better your hourly wage was, the worst, and it would go down, and with rotating managers every six months if something happened to you physically that caused performance to suffer, there was a good chance of you getting fucked
Toshiba has officially announced that they have pulled out of the HD-DVD market
You can look at it as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of human life, or just chalk it up to my being a sick, bloodthirsty monster. Either way, it's all the same.

"Japan's Toshiba waved the white flag in the high-definition home movie war on Tuesday, giving up on its HD DVD format after losing the support of key studios and retailers to the Blu-ray technology backed by Sony. "
ah, no worries about good old fashioned dvd's, *until they figure out what's going to go on with the blue ray format in the european union, which is waiting to see what north america settles on*. the poor man has no worries that he's got to go broke buying a new machine, to just rent a movie.
the price of blu ray machines is going down slightly which i think is a major hurdle they're over coming for their ideal to take over, but by video industry standards, not even a quarter of the stores across the nation have blu ray, and the stores that have tried it, aren't doing so well...and with a recession looming, who's going to want to by a machine for twice the price and limited rental selections?
no one wants to invest in a new technology that may in actuality go nowhere

over here it's been all over the news that shops here are stopping buying HD-DVD and that Blu-Ray has won and toshiba are pulling out the market. also on TV, all the adverts just say "on dvd and HD Blu Ray" and not "Blu-Ray and HD-DVD"
Pretty much it's come over here but the stuff is still on sale.
I think I might still, if they become very cheap, buy a HD-DVD add on for my 360. Will still be able to buy the HD-DVD films in shops for cheap, they still work and can watch em, and it'll save me paying out for them on Blu-Ray should the time come.
What my friend and I were discussing last night, is... Do you think Microsoft will make a Blu-Ray add-on for the 360 now?
They have been discussing it, along with what would be involved for Toshiba to manufacture a blu-ray player as well, even though they say they will not do it.
