| Buying a Wii -
06-08-07
So, yesterday i was in Milton Keynes in the big shopping centre they call the "centre:MK" and in between calls i walked into Game, and walked into Gamestation (the fuckers are about 20m away from eachother) and i spied myself the Wii section, and looked around, checked out the prices, and thought "hmm"
i thought so very hard about buying one from game, i spied the section, talked to a guy, and decided i'd think about it while doing my next call.
i walked down to gamestation, and then found out i could get one in gamestation with another game for hardly anything more. about £20 more i think. making sure i wasn't caught by the guy there for another discussion and getting myself even more persuaded by him as well i decided to get out and go to work.
afterwards i found myself strolling up to gamestation. i had to tear myself away. i really did.
so, i got home, looked around on the net, talked to people, and i want to know...
who owns a wii?
what are the perks of having a wii?
what are the games replay values?
which games to get?
if i have a 360 should i REALLY be getting myself one as well?
how much fun actually are they?
i'm thinking of getting one with wiisports (obviously) and zelda, another wiimote (possibly getting wiiplay as well, but i'm told this isnt any good on replay... comments please? ) and another game.
so, games i'm looking at...
redsteel
sonic and the secret rings
rayman crazy bunnies game
apparently redsteel is a letdown, though i'm lookin at that...
and that sonic isn't as good as it should be,
and i'm not sure whether i'll like the rayman bunnies game enough after playing through the games once. i know it's a whole bundle of minigames, i'd like comments on the replay of those.
also, how much storage space is on the console for virtual games? how many can i get on there, and how are they stored?
i'd like to go into a store and try one out really. i spose i will have to this weekend.
but yes... persuade me to buy a wii.

I don't own one myself, but a friend of mine said he pulled a muscle in his back by being a bit overzealous in a baseball game. I've been hearing a lot about Wii injuries. There's a whole Reuters article on it. If it's not tennis elbow, it may be Wiiitis | Technology | Reuters To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. there's also another site - Wii Have A Problem...
which is hilarious reading. some of the stories people have about hurting themselves, their houses, their tvs, everything...
60" HD screen + Wiimote = tears.
says it all really.
i'm holding off one for now, but the temptation is still there.

Yeah, I saw that one a few weeks ago. Yeah, wait until you're sure that the strap problem is fixed. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

haha, i dont think it ever will be. but theres some nice big big big ones you can get, in a pack with silicon/silicone sleeves for the mote/nunchuck.
problem is now i gotta wait about 2 weeks... one, til i get paid, and two, til i get my car situation sorted.
my car's sprouted a few problems, busted seal on rear brake drum splurted brake fluid all over my shoes and screwed the pads. so it'll definately fail the M.O.T. unless i fix em. gotta find out if i have to buy a new motor or if i can just borrow one or bike it til i get mine fixed up. not too sure. lots to think of.

Wii is still sold out/unavailable in my area, I am almost certain now that its just Nintendo being a fucking douche and keeping supply low so that the buzz is still high. Which is funny because I wanted one for some time, but then played other peoples and was like "this is it? this is the big fucking deal?" So now I don't bother even checking anymore. I may get one eventually... but I don't know maybe not. Its a substandard system and I can still play twilight princess on my game cube. I think this will come back to screw Nintendo. My 360 is a 100X more interesting to use anyway... not only does it have better online play and an online community, but its got cutting edge graphics.

I'm still waiting for prices to come down before I buy my 360. I refuse to be one of the cattle that just have to have the newest system, and pay 400 bucks for one. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I too considered getting a Wii briefly, the deal was:
Wii+
3 Games (Call of Duty 2, Something else (bad) x2)
Extra Wii Remote
Charging station
= $300
Good deal, really. But it had two previous owners. Did they enjoy it as much as they thought? No. Why didn't I buy it? I figured they knew better. So far I'm in the clear of losing $300. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Nah i'm gonna stick with envy. People do what they want. What they "WANT" You may feel above it, or maybe you just couldn't afford the hunk of metal and plastic. Those that could though weighed the costs of doing it or not doing it and felt that it was something worthwhile to do. Just because you don't, doesn't make them cattle. Cattle don't have a choice, and if the real reason for why you wont buy a 360 or whatever until the price comes down is because you cant afford it, that makes you closer to being cattle than those people you dislike. They had a choice to buy or not, you had no choice. Not to buy.

the stock level is low around here, but you can get one if you want one without waiting very long, a day or two at max. they tend to get deliveries then sell out a day or two before the next lot.
i've decided i'm going to wait a while longer, there's more interesting things i want to buy. for instance, new gym equipment.
plus i'd like to try one out properly as well.
dare say i'll buy one in the end, when the game library expands more. though it'll probably be at a time when i have too much bloody money.

My Sis bought me my Wii, so I guess I was lucky.
I did however hook up her system when she got her's about a month of so before mine and had enjoyed playing it. It's one of those systems where you can get a few games that you slip into the systems, play for 5 or 10 mins and just have some pure fun.
However that said, so far there really are not enough cool or original games. A lot of them use very similar gameplay and rely on a few keys things. It's about time they got their finger out and start releasing some inovative titles which is what this machine was all about.
The only one I'm looking forward to is the one where you get to play at being a Doctor and cut people open.... To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Nah i'm gonna stick with envy. People do what they want. Then why are there so many PS3s and shit already going on ebay because people don't want them anymore.
What they "WANT" You may feel above it, or maybe you just couldn't afford the hunk of metal and plastic. Those that could though weighed the costs of doing it or not doing it and felt that it was something worthwhile to do. And a lot of those people are now regretting making that mistake.

My brother got one and I got to play. I've got to say that it's pretty fun.
One of the selling points for me would be playing Gamecube games. I don't have one, so it actually does something for me.
And no one is really used to it yet, except the Nintendo fanboys who stay up until 4am every night playing. So it's more fair when you play against someone.
I wouldn't get one for a while though. Game developers are really going to need some time to learn how to use it properly. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. Playing music that you didn't know you wanted to hear
