Shopping WYSIWIG web design software I've been unable to suss out which one can perform a specific effect, and I wonder if someone with experience can recommend a program that in addition to the basic layout can make a large image appear in a new location when the user "mouses over" a thumbnail. I'd also like to make GIF animations, but I'm unclear whether I need separate programs for these operations or can find everything in one package. Thanks for your advice.

you can do the mouseover thing with pure code. don't need a program for that.

just look for a gif animation program. there are lots of those. many free.

I seriously doubt you'll find a WYSIWYG with that functionality. You'll have to look into some CSS to be able to do that.

I built that one for Crypt. It's pretty simple, but it works.

What operating system do you run? There are tons of GIF animators out there. I use GIF Construction Set by Alchemy Mindworks. Simple and easy to use.
But as for the mouseover images, you can do that with straight CSS formatting. Or, if you're feeling brave, you could attempt a PHP or AJAX script.

I think I've decided on Namo Web Editor, which will let me enter code as well as drag & drop.
