Here we go boys and girls. At this point there are five of us. Myself, along with sixxx(sic)six, Dark Messiah, Jarekk, and Iron's Rite. If you're reading this you're more than welcome to join us, but by all means, so it soon.
Here we will be going through a set of exercises that will help up open our minds and push ourselves a little bit farther. And maybe, just help get some of us over the writer's block we've been bogged down with for ages.

There aren't too many details that I haven't given. It starts today, will go on for a while (I have no specific length of time, but I'll let you know a reasonable amount of time before it ends.) I encourage you all to participate in the exercises and let each other know what you think about each other's poems. Anyway, on with exercise one.

Exercise One:

Make a list of 20 words.

Now half rhyme all 20 words-really stretching the possibilities of rhyming sound--such as pairing the words "greed" with "underneath" or "futility" with "vanilla pie". (Notice how this last pair doesn't match in a typical rhyming way but that they have the same number of syllables or beats).

Add a color and a place/proper name to your list of words.

You should now have 43 words to use as ingredients for your writing.

Using these ingredients, start writing, as if you were making a pot of soup. Throw them together and see what happens.

If you get stuck, repeat a phrase, line, or word you just wrote. (Repetition gathers mysterious strength).

As you write, relax and try not to think too hard; really just flow along, grab words from your list, add others not on your list, and see where it leads you. If you go somewhere that is really cooking then forget about your list of words and go, but try to use as many "ingredient" words as you can.

hmm....that was kinda fun....i might try doing another using the same words....i kinda like the way my words came about (the columns that is).....each column is kinda a poem themselves....or....maybe i could just combine the column and my lil' poem....or....hmmm....i unno....but that was fun.....who's next?

i thought the point of the exercise was just to let it spill forth and write it down....thatz what i did.....the first one took me like 5 minutes, the second one took me a bit longer because of tryin' to think of words that began with W....

well, you should have 20 words, and 20 words that rhyme with them. Basically you want the same sound in each pair as opposed to the usual end rhyme- dime, time, lime, sublime... path-apathy works, guide-climb works, drape-hate works, that sort of thing... make sense?
