In the tradition of the infamous 'poetry party', here's a fresh new community poetry thread. Anyone is welcome to post their poetry, talk, discuss, be friendly, be open, be honest, and grow.

...And since I started the thread I'll begin with something of mine, it's a bit old, but a personal favourite.

Fingered

Faded blue jeans are my comfort,
seeing them always means home.
Guaranteeing my success would be trivial
in hindsight, (besides I only spent a quarter.)

The painted face
means I'm up for anything,
(but you already know). Lost in decadence,
bewildered by certain alluring spices.
I saw you once underneath the magic moon.
I was the girl with the curious stare.

the title doesn't really mesh with the content, sug...

true that, but I didn't want to go with poetry party again... Any suggestions?

no no... i mean the title (was it the title) "fingered" with the poem below it.

Ahhh... It fits to me... There's nothing sexual to it. Think of something being pointed out... or 'fingered.' Yeah... I like it.

i think its very well writen. title works for the content and it doesnt stray from its intent.

distant thunder...


i think i can hear it
like a deathbeat funeral drum
low rumble that courses thru my veins
and strikes my very heart
disrupted biorhythm
silence again im a prisoner to
walking on glass
my paws are bleeding
but i cant feel anything
other than the thunder
steely blue and cold
a single tree in this landscape
gnarled hand reaching skyward
my only sanctuary
with no protection from the world
the hot wind blows sand over me
i close my eyes slowly
listening closely
and im engulfed
in the thunderous sky above.

of course... think poetry party but with a different name. Thanks for sharing. Tell your friends.

The sun does shine yonder thicket
Shines upon my sullen face
This hole that I dig
Deep as it may seem
Only gets deeper with every shift of earth

The blood on my earthen hands
Congeals as I shovel
She looks at me
Eyes as distant as the stars
Her head far removed from her body

I was agog at our union
But beneath the love was lies
She tempered my fury
Now my eyes they begin to cry
As I dig, deeper and deeper

So the sun shines yonder thicket
As i dig her resting place
The fucking bitch she lied to me
So I seperated her body from her face
And know I feel sad for a heinous evil act
Fuck it, I'm off to tesco's to get a six pack.

hum... this seemed a bit... childish to me. you start off with a statement, then affirm it with something obvious... and that just makes me (the reader) feel spoonfed. i don't like being spoon fed.

then you go off on wet dreams and mirrors... meh. not very powerful... at all.

'nother one, however cliché, I quite liked writing it, as the end is something that's not been said, at least not enough.


Love
I read once about love
I did not heed it before I felt
I felt pain before I heeded it
Love hurt me

Love is old they say
Talk of love is old
It got old
Us creatures made it that way

I read once about love
After I felt it
I smirked in rememberance of a pain so brutal
Times the foundation of my being tilted like a crashing wave uppon the cliffs

Once more I read of love
John Donne:
''If our two loves be one thou and I''
''Love just alike in all, none of these loves can die''

I thought to myself
John, it never did
It is our human form of it that does
