lost drops of purple rain, like a Prince who was once sane,
such emotions best left in the caricatures of hysteria,
i remember the days of floods, clean water polluting dirty streets,
only the craziest of crazies ventured close enough for a swim,
and like memories of the present, only the richest peasant spoke cliches,

i knew not of such truths, why does the universe include Whacky-Taffy?
these thoughts are terrible when towers tickle skies with corporate romance,
and in the end i've only wished one thing, to feel the pain of rain as it crashes down,
