NYC Reading Celebrates World War II Poets

NEW YORK (AP) - Frances Sternhagen, Betsy von Furstenberg and Dan Lauria will be among the readers at a March 26 tribute to World War II poets.
``World War II, as with all great human events, inspired poets to commemorate actions both great and unknown, and the broad range of emotions raised by the experience of battle and its aftermath,'' program organizer Stanley Eugene Tannen said in a statement Wednesday.
Tannen is the founder of the nonprofit organization Toward International Peace Through the Arts.
The reading, to be held at St. Peter's Church in midtown Manhattan, will also mark the Library of America's publication of an anthology of World War II poetry. Some writers featured in the book, including Harvey Shapiro and Louis Simpson, will be in attendance.

This would be a really cool event to go to if only I were closer. I don't think there is enough poetry, or art in any form for that matter, in the news. Don't Drink and Park. Accidents cause people.
