I would say both, as I dislike extreme temperatures, though I don't want the thread police to come and holler at me for not picking the either/or answer as directed.

Right now, I seem to do better in cooler temperatures, so I'll say heatwave is worse.

Dictionary .com doesn't really distinguish between the two words, but if I understand your phrases correctly, between

Having someone else resent/desire something I have

and

Being the thing someone else wishes he/she had,

I think the latter is worse b/c it is objectifying and b/c, as a third party, I wouldn't want to be involved in emotional interactions between the envied & the envier.

Which do you think would feel worse: having to collect food stamps or having to collect Unemployment?

If collecting unemployment is the unemployment benefit, I would go with that as better. I dont think we have food stamps here, but having food stamps instead of cash is a bit demeaning I think. It's a good idea - so that people don't spend food money on other things, I just would rather have cash thanks.

I feel the same way, maso. Unfortunately food stamp recipients turn their stamps into cash by buying a small food item, like a pack of gum, with a large food stamp bill and getting their change in cash (I know this from being a cashier in high school). Also, food stamp people buy all kinds of foods that regular workikng-class people can't afford- like the meat cuts that you can get so cheaply *jealous*.

Difficult . . . I very much like to use all my senses . Sorry don't like both but if I must choose . . . . . grainy black and white picture . I rather hear then see something , I guess .

We don't have food stamps here just a unemployed benefit with mandatory applying for work , once a week or your benefit will be cut as way of a fine . Some people have so little money they use food banks set up by volunteers . They get free groceries , that are donated by shops , once a week .

I'd say the two-faced annoying, gossipy co-workers, because at least with my neighbors I could handle it MY way. Plus that makes work more unfun and I don't think people need that extra stress on the job.
