This just dawned on me this morning. Talk about hypocrisy

Well, I do feel for blacks because they did go through alot. No, it's not my fault but it's understandable that they still hold a grudge against whites because it wasn't that long ago that blacks were so oppressed. Then with Africa going through so much shit and it's all they have to stand for. It may be shameful and degrading. I'm not black but those who are didn't choose it as I didn't choose to be white. Tables turn both ways, however, and in the end we're people.

Everybody went through shit. Its not acceptable for them to hold grudges for shit that happend 100s of years ago unless I can hold a grudge for shit they did a 100 years ago. Or shit they do today in record numbers.

I think he was referring to injustice in general, not slavery. In all actuality, slavery could be easily forgiven if equality for all people was achieved when it was abolished. The major issues lie in the accepted oppression of a whole race of people who were forced to come here and then were thrown away like garbage once the oppressors were done with them. Having said that, the way forward for blacks in todays society is to forgive those transgressions (not forget) and move forward as equals. This means no quota system and not falling back on the race card.

It does mean forgetting to. I dont see any Irish or Italians running around crying about slavery thier ancestors endured. And we were talking about slavery before she sasid 50 years ago.

Almost every single race on the planet has been enslaved at one point or another by somebody. What makes the blacks so special? In comparison with the jews and celts, the blacks had a rather short stint in white slavery.

The Irish and Scots has something like 300 years of slavery. More than blacks. Unless you want to count the 10s of 1000s of years black on black slavery existed in Africa, and indeed thats where the 1st American black slaves came from. Not from the evil White man going down to kidnap slaves, but to buy people who were already slaves from rival tribes. Oh right reperationists always forget to mention that part.

That's not including indentured servitude, which is almost the same as slavery.

Well firstly, anyone who has ever been enslaved bitches about it. The fact that we feel the need to bring up the Celts proves that. The Jews have been getting reparations for quite some time now with no end in sight. The primary difference here is that African Americans are still living in the country that enslaved them and more importantly oppressed them. As far as the Celts are concerned, I can asure you that during the time that I lived in the UK, the Scotts and the Irish both bitched about the state of their independance in the so called UNITED Kingdom. Implying otherwise would be straight up BS! I'm not asking for special treatment because I can assure you it's unnecessary, I can hold my own against the ignorant.
Why is it that white Americans feel the need to pretend that the injustices that their ancestors experienced in America can be compared to what blacks and native americans experienced in America? Waiting for reperations that willl never arrive is unhealthy and unproductive on the part of African Americans but so is white America pretending that their ancestors experienced anything remotely comparable in the US.
