My name is ## and I am a pupil at ##. This morning I was supposed to be sitting Paper 2 of my GCSE History examination, but I misread my examination timetable, thought the exam was scheduled for this afternoon and thus missed it.

I understand that this is my fault, but I don't think that two years of hard work should be sabotaged by these actions. The examination was not set to test my punctuality, but my knowledge.

I have spoken to the examining officer at my school, Mr.##, who assures me that there is nothing he can do to help me rectify the situation.

I would welcome any help on your part that would enable me to take this exam, or to take both Paper 1 and Paper 2 again, and to try and acheive a better grade in this GCSE.

Might be an idea to show the examiner a copy too, he might believe you from that and work from there, if not when she phones him it should be sorted out pretty quickly.

Hmm, a bit late now, but it will have to do. I don't hold out much hope, my examining boards are AQA and NEAB, notoriously hard nuts. (They also screwed up everyone's exam results last year)
