I believe the bible was written as the word of God. However, there are many references that conservatives make that I feel are misleading. For example the reference to Sodom and Gomorrah. They completely ignore that the angel's gender is not named and the place was already marked for destruction because of their wickedness. For all anyone knows, their damnation was from rape of women and child molestations.

Another one, slightly more playful, is Noah. While Noah went and proclaimed that his son would be condemned to slavery of the other sons, if you look at Tanak the genealogies expose the line leading to Jews was the one who covered Noah, not the other way around. The Jews were enslaved for four hundred years. In addition, Noah quickly died after his telling God what to do and using God's name in vain. This is why I feel blessing other people in the name of God is blasphemy. It is wrong to proclaim God's will and plan.

I'm probably going to hell for thinking and actually typing this down. I feel that the Bible was written by man and that has to be taken into account. How much of the Bible do you actually think is the word of God, and how much of it is man wanting to be god?

on the note, it is proven the bible is loosley based on it former and "original" version, and has changed frequently into several different versions "tuned" for each sect. also it is known that when it was transcribed that the monks doing so decided which books to keep and how they saw fit to transcribe them. this an unerrant approach is more folly then a uideline approach. muslims bring this point up often as their koran is the same as when written.
