On a non-bitch-type summary, I'd really recommend that you carefully word your posts in the Serious Discussion forum - this part of DF is for serious debate, and as such you can expect your posts to be picked apart word by word.

If you make claims then people will ask you to cite proof (usually a link to a reputable neutral and independent website).

Claims along the lines of "we need war because if it didn't exist and there was a nuclear holocaust resulting in a loss of all knowledge of war then a few generations later people wouldn't be able to play chess" are going to be shredded. And rightly so.

We don't "need" war - especially not just so we can give the movie and video game industry something to make money out of. That is a child's view of the world - one which totally ignores the suffering and misery that war creates, and is little more than stamping your feet and saying "well, I want it cos I want my video games and movies".

And I think you'll find that there were more war movies around in the late 40s and 50s than there are now - you're not desensitised - that's just a cop-out.
