crude futures are now over $70 a barrel so the price of gasoline is going to go up.

Personally i think it is time to move out of crude futures and into coffee.

itll keep fucking going up...and you know what? itll continue, because people are buying gas in a panic. prices jump 15 cents in a day and people are going nuts and buying the shit like crazy, prices will continue to go up and people will continue paying for it. cos they have us by the balls. we cant do anything without gasoline. hell, if they have to people will pay 10 bucks a gallon. they dont have a choice. if you continue to buy it, itll keep going up.

sick fucking twisted. i drive a Saturn, 4 cylinder. used to cost around 12-15 to fill an nearly empty 10 gallon tank. i filled it today. total come to 28 dollars. and thats buying it on the air force base, where prices are cheaper. people were in such a panic today...that by noon the gas station was out of regular unleaded. and they had a tanker in at 7am to fill. keep in mind, this is a station with roughly 10 pumps.

Its not demand that keeps the prices going up, the government has regulations to keep that from happening. Its the reliance on foreign oil (unnecessarily) and the fact that a hurricane just wiped out one of our few refineries, and flooded one of our major oil fields.

Not to mention the drilling platform that washed up on the beach... that was an odd sight.

You're stupid. They're not closing all gas stations. We're RUNNING OUT OF GAS. They've raised the price to $6 a gallong in some areas. Greenville/Spartanburg area of SC expects to be out of gas by tomorrow. More might not be in until next week. Here in Charlotte, it's 7 or 8 cars deep per pump. The NC governor said this morning we might not have gas by the end of the week.

Indeed. I really think another Great Depression is on the way, brought about by a 1-2 punch from our lovely war and Hurricane Katrina. Gas Prices are up, trucking prices go up, merchandise prices go up, consumers are broke, consumers don't spend. Economy tanks.

On the bright side, in a horrible economy, what do the Feds always do to help it out? Drop the prime interest rate. So real estate might get a little kick in the pants.

you know that this would be the perfect time for alternative fuels to make a killing in the market... at the very least it would make the oil companies realize that they are not the only ones to provide the fuel needed for everyday transportation

back home in nebraska we have a huge ethanol plant that provides to a lot of midwest stations... the ethanol is mixed with regular gasoline most cars operate on a 90% gas 10% ethanol mix... but there are vehicles (mostly fleet) that operate on an 85% or more ethanol mix...

We would still be fucked, what powers the machines that build non-gas using vehicles?
