We have to deal with people whose viewpoints we may disagree with everyday, it's part of life and Synikul has never tried to force his views on others or to rub our faces in it. Sure some of his viewpoints are nasty but I would think that it wouldn't bother you that much. Although that's just me.

Its odd, even if true, I never expected anyone to admit that the moderators aren't working in the best interest of the users, but merely trying to piss them off, but not enough to make them leave.

JLB and Sixgun flamed and trolled constantly while presenting their viewpoints creating a negative atmosphere that encouraged unhealthy debate.
If on the other hand, someone can hold opposing viewpoints without constantly bringing them up as a means of trolling and without allowing them to affect debate and decision making on their part. Then we have no right to restrict their activities on the forum including being a moderator if they want to be one.

So what decisions would you make? Either way, no matter what decision you make you are going to piss people off in the course of moderating a website. I don't see how you can't know that.

That's part of why I think it's good that Synikul was moderated, if you want to know the exact reasons why he was moderated it's really a combination of factors that the person who made him a moderator could best explain.
Either way, by your own admission, you would be running this forum as an authoritarian state where a member could have their rights and opportunities curtailed simply for having views that run in opposition to your own. That may or may not be a bad thing depending on the forum climate and you are within your rights to do so if it's your forum.
However, I don't think it's fair for you to say that we are trying to piss the other members off just because you disagree with how the forum should be run.
