I was in my HS select choir. We "hated" the band kids, but then not really. Basically, when something went wrong or got broken that belonged to the choir, we blamed the band kids and vice versa.

and now that I think of, we always had a christmas concert...it always sucked. I wasnt in the class so I had a hard time learning music and any choreo. not to mention that I hate singing christmas music so I usually didnt do the christmas concert

but yees....odd time sigs are fun, which is why i'm glad i'm in this band i'm in....both i and the guitarist understand music theory, and the fact that i'm a bad ass drummer (i admit it, i am) and he's a kick ass guitarist (he is) it adds a kool a sound to the band playin' in odd time sigs....but it gets kinda hectic when throws a song my way that goes: 6/8, 6/8, 7/8, 5/4, 5/4, 3/4, 9/8, 6/8, 6/8, 7/8....i'm like GAH!!!! but itz fun

but yeah, i always love the way band geeks come across....i mean, don't get me wrong, i was a band geek, but i also was into drinking and sex and drugs and all things extreme.....as were most of the band kids....i mean, we had the uber-geeks who ate, slept, and shit band....but most of us were just your typical highschooler fucks, who just happened to be in band.....and in fact, our marching band was more popular than our football team....and that says a lot coming from Ross, Ohio...KKK capital of the midwest....but we won more trophies and went to state far more than any of our sport teams.....and man, we were strict as fuck.....it wasn't all goofy like you see in movies....it was hard fuckin' work....blistering sun, marching constantly, always gettin' yelled at, bein' forced to stand at attention....gah....our directors were harsh....and i can't tell you how many times they threw shit, or how many times i personally got screamed at....percussionists always did get in trouble the most....

Yes, I had band geek friends in high school. Some of them came to me when they wanted weed.

I hate holiday cheer. It's all superficial. Every stupid song reminds me of how our capitalist society has shit upon and ruined the very basic meaning of "give" and "understanding".

Profit, profit, profit. Stores setting up Christmas shit in October and earlier in places, people with bells outside the mall, suicide rates climbing, buying, selling, cold wet snow, and songs of "cheer" non-stop on my local radio stations. I fucking hate it all!

God is Santa, Santa is God. God needs money, Santa needs money, everything is overpriced or put on special "discount" where you have to buy multiple items for the "discount" to count. Fuck holiday cheer and fuck Christmas.

It's just another reason to buy, another reason to eat fatty foods, another reason to rub superior decorations in the faces of the less fortunate neighbors, and another way to make the children believe in another non-existant man who's watching to see if you're bad or good... 'cuz you're gonna be punished if you're not!

Christmas is the utimate western holiday. Show off to the rest of the world what and how much we can waste. Fuck it.

We have a Pagan Yule thing going on here, and as a catholic kid, my mother MADE my presents. VERY low key, but I loved it all the same. My memories of my parents ae good ones that involve sticking cloves in oranges and baking things...
