Only to go blank when I walk up and attempt to engage them on a lengthy conversation about anything on the subject that does not come off of a MTV or VH1 special!!!!!
When a 14 year old remarked about Kurt Cobain dying only to have me shoot back. "You weren't even a glorified nightmare to your mother when he died!" and then listen to Henry Rollins say there is (I am paraphrasing as his quote was long)--No way in hell he would go into a pit at a concernt, even one at his own concert. Due to the senseless violence, rage and anger. Then it is time to pack it is and declare music dead and the youth of today fodder for the cannons of war.

Punk is dead. Grunge is dead. Everything is rewarmed. If the what-evers of this generation want to be taken seriously then maybe you should stop searching for the deeper meaning and take it from people who were there the first time around. Punk is glorified into something it wasn't and kids walk around like they are more hard core then Sid or Johnny could ever hope to be. Lighten up kiddlets and find a place of your own. You want to grow a mohawk, then go do it. Just don't expect anyone to take you seriously till you earn the respect and maturity as you walk around with it. Also don't ever, everask/think anyone has to make life easy due to how you look. Don't wonder why they look at you, after you go walking around with a symbolic sign of "LOOK HERE" Don't ever ask for special treatment either. You want a mohawk then know a few things first. Don't go whining about equal rights and other bullshit. My husband had to shave his to get a job; and you know what he is still more punk then little shits with liberty spikes (and he makes more an hour then they can if he choose to be a punk and not adult) I've seen young punks come and sneer at him only to watch him school their asses in public for being stupid and assuming towards people they deem too old!!!
I know of adults who are lame in docs and mohawks, they have not a clue and not sense enough to admit they just like the look.

By the way....my husband had a mohawk, and dresses like a punk, he dresses grunge, he dresses EMO. Then again he(me too) knows its dead and has been, like grunge we are sad and tear up over old records of the D.K. preforming live. Not because it is something oh so kwel. Just because something is missing and it is just sad. Call me pathetic, I will be the first to admit it. But when a entire crowd at a concert starts to mosh to MUZAK then I would rather be sobbing into a frayed mohair sweater and my converse, remembering when Time Life Records did not have a Best of Grunge or Best of Punk collection, then spend my time trying to communicate with people who weren't alive for any of it and swear they know it all.

Antihero--you are right in a sense (or rather I agree with you on one point). Punk was not a music, it was a social statement then came a music trend that (for a lack of better words) anthem for this attitude which was dubbed punk.

I disagree on the fact that as long as someone is playing the style it isn't dead. If you make a bunch of carbon copies of something rewarmed and served to the masses it isn't the same. The soul of it changed and yet it still hasn't evolved to be something of its own. It is just redone and called what the old was.

Back stabbing on a web site? Now there's just something to make one cry.....

I've never liked you either, I just don't irritate people with never ending comments that people tire of quickly. So keep the hate coming it makes things intresting when it's actually given attention.
