On a similar note.. How come everyone always replies to people's pic threads calling them hot? A lot of these people are damn fuckin ugly.

Because no matter what, most people in here can't bear to be truthful (with the personal photos I mean).
Doesn't anyone remember the thread that was about who are the ugliest people in the forum. It died after a month because some people got pissed of due to the lack of ass kissing forum PC. Every other post was one of the people in question bitching about how not fair and unkind everyone was, intermixed with the "oh now you think I'm ugly, so now I'm going to hide in my room listen to Marilyn Manson and cut myself till you take it back and make my ego feel better."

It's because people are fucked up. That is the entire reason why people call others 'hot', and so forth. I know this because I am in fact fucked up. This is a great way to make friends, and for some people to find the significant other. I think a lot of people use this forum and the internet in general as a cure for their rabid loneliness which consumes them. I am not saying everyone, I am saying some. But a lot of these people you call ugly and such really aren't. They are normal looking. Normal looking is not ugly. It's not just hot or ugly. I mean come on, if we went around this forum and started looking at people in person. I'm sure most of us aren't "HOT." We're mostly normal looking people with normal looking lives. What's the problem with that?

Ok. Now what's the problem with boosting someone's ego? Then again, why do you take (obviously you made a list, so you made the effort) such time to point out ugly people? Just to spite those people who call them hot. How pointless is that?

Anyhow, I'm sure this is full of typos that you can point out and that makes my argument pointless. I'm also sure that my own shortcomings will be pointed out. I'm fine with that. I am guilty of calling a lot of women nice looking. I'm guilty of salacious flirting and other unmentionables. I'm pretty much an intolerable asshole too.

I also realize the incredible stupidity in actually taking the time to type this post.

Umm ok.
I made the list simply because I was for making of a thread where people didn't have to say something nice. If I remember right at that time in the forum a lot of people were fed up with the change to a PC forum and even more people where getting hit with loads of two faced friends who then turned in a second.
I like my hate or whatever in the open, it makes for a level playing field. At least people can see it and respond how they wish.
I felt if after saying for so damn long a thread like this should be made and then balking at the thought of posting something for fear or hurting someone I would be a huge hypocrit.

I don't have a problem with boosting an ego, especially when it comes from the heart or at the very least not to fill the "must be nice" or "PC" quota.
I do have a problem with meaningless ass-kissing.

Was it a nice thread, no.
People choose to comment and the people who did had to deal with the ramifications for what they posted.
No one is ever nice all the time and after awhile meewing sycophants grate on my nerves.

It's like. This sounds cynical and shit, but the general "goth" movement that exists nowadays is about getting attention and giving attention; I can honestly say that I fell into that stereotype when I was younger (That isn't to say I don't now, I won't judge myself outside of retrospect.) It only makes sense that the attention whoring would increase exponentially (Thank you dictionary.com) on a message board that serves mainly a "goth" demographic, where you can mold what people know as your true personality almost at will. But, I might just be overanalyzing and it could be due to the fact that the Internet is just a fuckin' cesspool.
