I figured the poop deck would be the right place to post that I spent the morning cleaning out my cabinets & washing all my dishes after this little guy apparently went crazy in my house Thursday night. There were droppings all over my counter top as well as in my silverware drawer. I sprayed a ton of insecticide around after seeing something scurrying along the baseboard, and I found this the next afternoon after work. Isn't he cute?

I can't look at mice the same after one crawled into my bed while I was half asleep. That was the last time I've ever slept on the floor in a house in the country. Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose the former, and have seen no reason to change.

There is another one!
I hear rustling and went into the kitchen and found a baby mouse under the sink under my recycling bags. There's a little hole between the wall of the cabinet and the area where my dishwasher is that it must have gone through. Then there's a space under the countertop into my mixingbowl cabinet, but there doesn't seem to be an outlet from there. I've pulled everything out. I feel sorry for the little cutey, but I guess I'll be picking up a trap tomorrow.
The last time I had mice I used glue traps, but releasing the poor things was awful (you're supposed to pour vegetable oil on them and poke them with the end of a pencil to un-stick them). I ended up leaving two mice still stuck outside, and when I got home from work that day, one tray was nowhere to be found, and the other was lying haphazardly far from where it had been. I think I left the poor things to be eaten by a hawk or cat.

Don't worry, I was hanging out the washing at my old place and felt this light touch on the back pocket of my jeans. Yes it was a mouse, just come to say hey.
I had a chat with him and he ran down my leg back off into the trees.
We also had a rat the size of a kitten here at work and because I work night shift, I used to see him scuttling over the floor to the bins. That was until day shift put traps down.
They make a god awful scream when the spring snaps over their back. That was quite disturbing. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. I live in a town house, so I don't know that having an exterminator to treat just my portion of the row would do any good. Off to buy traps, the real kind this time. Hope it doesn't scream, Shok.

I woke up one night, thought the cat was trying to attack my feet...well I closed my eyes, and freaked out when something ran across my face! I turned on the lights, and my youngest cat was playing with the mouse on my bed....every time the mouse would run off, she would catch it again and bring it on my bed......long night of washing bedding and yelling at the cat to just kill it.Not fun, but haven't seen a mouse after that. I will cry for you, don't cry for me. The end is near, and we will all be free.

My cat leaves me mice, bunnies, birds, and bits and pieces of other animals I can't identify. He also likes to play with mice in my shoes. Catching them, putting them in my shoe, wait for it to poke its head out, let it run, catch it, put it in my shoe etc... I should be flattered, since he doesn't leave dead animals for anyone else in my family, but that just means I'm the one who has to clean it up. Early in life I had to choose between honest arrogance and hypocritical humility. I chose the former, and have seen no reason to change.

Two down! But when I bent to pick up this one, another fat furry behind waddled away. It had managed to eat the peanut butter out of my trap w/o ending up like Baby Mouse. If it does so again tonight, I'll resort to torturous glue traps.
This is getting disgusting! I want to be able to use my kitchen again. The house one one side of mine has recently been vacated, so I think my mousies came from there.

Just a thought. I will cry for you, don't cry for me. The end is near, and we will all be free.

At least you've got the easy release plastic traps.
We've got either old-school wooden ones or ex-army metal things with spikes along the edge. Very nasty. Not to mention hard to set without losing fingers. little nipper floating platform wooden mousetraps are the best.
my friends house had a problem with mice a lil while ago. we set up some with small blocks of galaxy chocolate on, along with an infra red wireless pinhole camera and a pinhole usb light, transmitting to a receiver plugged into a tv card on his computer. set it up to record on movement... and it's all go. lights, sound, camera, action

Yeah, you might get some of that expanding foam insulation and spray in any open holes in your place. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I got the last sucker and found the space they'd been using (had to cram myself half in a lower cabinet to find it). Took you advice, CC & foamed it. Major soap & water operation and put all my plastic storage containers, mixing spoons & spatulas (found a nest in my cooking utensils drawer) in the recycling.
Nothing for two days, so I think it's over. Thanks for your advice, guys.
