So a few weeks ago I was very happy to hear that Death In June would be playing in New York City. I have wanted to see them for a very long time. But now people are protesting the show. Two venues have agreed and then back out of holding the show. Why? Because of some ignorant people who believe that DIJ is a white-power fascist band. These people have flooded the venues with letters and emails and pressured them into not letting them play. These people couldn't be more wrong. DIJ has nothing to do with white-power or fascism. If they put half the time they spent in protesting to actually do some research they would know this. I really hate people who just blindly parrot what others tell them without trying to find out the truth for themselves. They claim it's the right thing to do, 'We must protect people from this evil band'. It's nothing more then censorship, plain and simple. Why are they so stupid?

I hate ill-informed protesets. like the Huntingdom life sciences research centre in Cambridge. It does to animal experiments for medical purposes (the only legitimate reason to experiment on animals in my opinion) but the sabatages to control locks on the apiary free the monkees!

i never really understood extreme animal activists...particularly those who think all animals should be free...what would happen to all the domestics that have no idea how to survive without humans...or how would any...primate not of human intelligence survive in a city?

I used to protest there... I also used to protest near N.L.T centre in Nottingham (Nottingham Lab Testing)They used to test cosmetics on rabbits and dogs and cats etc... It was fucking horrible.

I protested at fox hunts and a few other events like that.

I did it because I have strong belief's on this but I would never protest without doing my research...

I was brought up in a family with strong beliefs... I started protesting on my own... After I saw some pictures of dogs and apes and other animals being tested on... It's cruel... Plain and simple... I wasn't looking for something to believe in... I already believed.

In the ealry 80's HLS centre had a rightfully earned bad name for all sorts of crap they did. But I was involved in the foundation steering comitee with my CETRA (Campaign for the Ethical Treatment of Research Animals) cap on.

I was unusual in my position on CETRA because I actually saw the benefit of medical research while the total ban thing was the usual goal of CETRA.

HLS centre was founded on a firm basis that it should not be used to do cosmetic research as CETRA beleives vanity is not a valid reason for scientific testing but as Medical research is a neccessity for survival, then it's much akin to eating these animals. Leather can be worn as it's a byproduct of the meat industry which I'm glad to say now uses 100% of the animals they kill.

I'm quite pro-testing but only for medical research purposes. I think that the people who sabataged HLS centre (And set back an AIDs treatment by 6 years due to viral culture contamination) are as dangerous (and as rightfully a target of the new UK anti-terror laws) as religious zealots
