Yes, because it's obviously way too much effort and difficulty for you to start some intelligent conversation yourself, or find another forum to post on that's less boring. Quit whining.

about 20+ people posting continously, at least during est. i used to pass a whole day on here at my old job ripping up on noobs and laughing at anti and arsi's buttsex threads. all hail the donkey.

Yes, this site was once great. In fact it still can be.

I wasn't whining, just stating a fact, and trying to stimulate some conversation... I succeeded. I dont care if DF dies or not, I'll continue to check it every day til the post count dwidles even more, then i'll check it a few times a week, then I'll gradually stop checking it at all.

Then in a few years I'll likely come back with a triumphant "I'M BACK!" thread, as everyone does.

if you're referring to the forum before sire...those days will never happen again.

most of those people i was referring to, that left, actually grew tired of...many behaviors that are continued to be displayed, and left for forums that have a more, encouraging environment for discussions that are not full of anger, hate or...insults towards personal opinions and expressions, disagreed with by a few.

maybe they should ban a bunch of people?

Garg didnt do anything except buy the forum, disallow people to fuck with each other and slowy drive the site to the small drivel it is now. You can stop kissing his ass now though.

And people dont want a happy huggle wiccan fag fest, they want to be able to speak without the thought police taking them away. In your own logic the site should be exploding with members not dying off, because when there was no moderation the site was 100% free for all thoughts and speech, Sire took over and made rules, then he gave it to Garg who made more rules, now its as orderly and moderated as its ever been, the result is obvious.

pray tell, where are all these posters and where does this happen? i fail to see where there are 30 new threads all constantly alive. but perhaps i'm not using the right skin.

it's always the same people, doing the same thing, with the same complaints...at least for the five years i've moderated it...if they're so disgruntled why not make their own site...oh wait!?!

apparantly they don't know much more about what makes a site, a sustained site either, yet they're saying how darkforum is supposed to be run...garg bought it, and it's still going...what are they whining about, because it got boring?

it has gotten boring...but because those who could sustain a mature conversation, about any topic without resorting to hateful and hurtful tactics, went elsewhere, because of a handful of posters who think because they were here at conception have some divine right to, instruct how it's to be run.

darkforum is darkforum and will always be darkforum...no matter who owns it, who moderates it, or who posts here...there's always the same people continue to bully it into their own, playground, it has operated smoothly without them...despite their delusions of necessity...do keep in mind however;

they're the ones always begging their way back, no matter how many times they swear they'll never return or how righteous they see themselves, crudely violating the opinions of others, while expecting their opinions to be respected, and taken as law...they always crawl back with the same complaints, the same disgruntlements and the same behaviors.

it's not gargoyle's fault the site is boring, he does what he needs to do, to keep it running...

maybe a pay for privelages option should be open? It could eliminate the need for adds.

all i'm going to say is...well if people are saying that the site is boring. why not make the effort to liven it up? instead of just sitting here talking about how this place used to be this and how it used to be that... and how some people are wanting to be entertained. as well as how boring garg has made the site become.... you know they have myspace... do a little advertising about darkforum on myspace... invite those people to come over here... but actually i like the site the way that it is....i'm totally fine with it... i want to keep it the way that it's running now...

I dont think banning people to get more users makes much sense. I've actually met very few people on this forum that think more moderation is a good thing. Typically those people are *surprise*... moderators (and a few of the moderators even state that they dislike having moderation... right before they warn you).

I'm not saying return it to the anarchy from which it came, I've given up on that fight, but stricter rules aren't going to do anything but push the sites core userbase even further away. And right now all the site has left is its core userbase.
