thats bird flu been reported in the area i live, first case in britain and it had to be in my area! they found a dead swan i think with the virus just 35 miles from where i live, and they are testing another that was found about an hour away from where i live but thats still being tested..so now the poor kitty really does have to stay inside.

i've also had to stop taking my cockatiel to my mothers with me as a precation(sp)..mind you the bf is happy about that one since he thinks my bird is the spawn of satan!

what kind of "rules" has the government set over there?

you know, i dont actualy have much of a clue on that one, i did a bit of googling for info and all i really found was basic info about how it cant be transfered from human to human yet..

all i really know is that birds are either to be brough inside where possible, if not they are to be protected with wiremeshing at the least. they are also putting up danger zones/primaters for the areas that birds with the virus has been found.

i dont think they are really taking it that seriously, the swan that is still being tested, wasnt picked till days after it was reported because it had been called in on a weekend! and by the looks of it they think wild animals (maybe even some birds) had been eating the damn thing!

was the swan tested positive? or unknown yet

i know, but there isn't much you can do about it, im just going to make sure my kittys looked after, i think im going to have to go on a spending spree and buy her some toys before she goes bonkers.

too late for that one..i bought myself a nice seagrass chest thing for the bathroom..well, it isnt so nice looking now! the skirting boards round the doors get it pretty bad too! it wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt for the fact when she had a scratching post she refused to use it!
