Tea is from China. England had nothing to do with creating it. They didn't even do a lot to spread it; most of the World had tea before the English.

History thrived for thousands of years before Britain was more than a dirty island in the corner of the Celtic civilization. In the thousand years since Britain has become important, it's influence has certainly been great upon the World, but to say that there would be no history without Britain is obviously in error. To say that it spread civilization across the World, as Tozzy did, is also grossly inaccurate. Britain never went anywhere where civilization didn't exist. They only changed the civilizations they found, often for the worse, via conquest and oppression. This is not to say that they had no positive influences, but they didn't create entire civilizations amongst people who had been living in langueless, craftless nomadic tribes.

As for America, even since the earliest days we drew influences from other cultures. The French, Germans, Scottish (I don't know whether you meant to imply simply the English or not, but there's more to Britain than England, which few people seem to realize), Dutch, Spanish, Portugese, and of course the natives of America also had a great impact on the growing culture and history of America, as did the West African slaves that were brought over, and in time, every group that came here, although I only listed the ones that were here more or less from the beginning of our history. Take away Britain, and our history changes drastically, but we retain a history. Same for any area of the World.

I would apply more or less the same argument to the Romans. They had many contributions to World history, both negative and positive, but civilization and the World would have marched on without them. There has never been one empire, one culture, one nation on which the rest of civilization's fate has hung.
