I hope I'm not interupting any conversations (if so, sorry, just go around me), but I just wanted to say that this book sounds like a really great idea! This is one of those times that I really wish I had talent in any of the areas that are gonna be in the book. Oh well, I know how I can contribute....I'll buy the book and help out the forum! That's the best I can do!

Okies MD... i will be here all day tomorrow from 6am Mountain till about 2PM mountain or so..... that is 8 hours to crack some stuff together.... we have to have permission for all submissions.... so we will have to e-mail everyone who submits and ask for info... Name, area, age, and a verified e-mail to save for permission... cuz I know that copyrigth stuff is a hassle.... we shuold let everyone keep all rights to thier work.... we are only borrowing it for the publication they still own the work straight out..... i am contacting Jordyn to see if she will submit a couple of Stories... and putting a thread in Story Forum to get some contributions from that Forum.... so at 6AM tomorrow I will start getting some stories together in a presentable format.... and get that poetry cracking... tomorrow I will make several submissions myself.... so you can choose if any are good enough for presentation....

Okay I have a suggestion for something you can do along the same lines, but cheaper, more marketable, and easier to manage. Why not do a calendar? You could use visual art from people in here, maybe add some smaller poems as borders, mark the dates of "goth" celebs and events on the calendar and sell the crap out of it.

Everyone needs a calendar and it would have an appeal to those not associated with the site both by it's art and it's utilitarian use. It would be easier to convince a music shop, cafe, clothes store (i.e. any non-book selling goth establishment) to carry a calendar than it would a book.

Plus you can create one every year and build on the success of the year before's.

i think its a great idea...fun thing to do...although i dunno make somthing so people who arent so gifted *like me* could be in the book ?

Submit.... submit submit...... more than likely at least one submission will be accepted from everyone..... talent after all is in the eye of the beholder..... so give it a go....

I think it would be a good idea to get the whole unbiased judges thing sorted, so they can begin to go through submissions.
Maybe post a thread were we can vote for who it should be, i'm not that familiar with some members so if maybe Dyshade or someone else could round up a list of likely candidates.
Course you'd need to get their consent first.
My picks for Poetry are mighty and (antihero), they seem like the two who are most critical and supportive in the poetry forum. They also know alot about the said subject and know not to be too harsh. It is after all about expression, I don't think any poem can be considered terrible if it's come from within. Remember this is about and for the members mainly and I don't think people should forget that. It's a representation of DF as a whole.

Just some thoughts about the project I was asked to share!

1. Post Message for all DF’ers explaining the project in an open discussion form. (This was already done and is in progress)

2. Contact Names & Email addresses for help and or individual information as needed throughout the project

3. Bulletin Board Note: Posting The General Rules & Requirements

4. The Who, What & Where for submitting work for the different categories

5. The Category names (Graphic Art, Poetry, Short stories, Photography, etc) and the requirements and limitations for each category

6. General Limitations: How many times can one submit their work? How many per category? and so on…..

7. Need to know all Category Leaders and their assistants: Email addresses, and names.

8. Bulletin Report: Updating everyone as to the progress of the project and other various important messages.

9. An on-going list of all participants for each category, posted for all DF’ers to see

10. Team Leaders need to organize and discuss everything that is accepted often!!

12. Publishing details who is doing all the background work looking for the publisher and setting all this up? Who is the assistant to that person?

13. Do we need to donate funds to the DF account for this function? and if so to whom and where? Possibly the DF fund already set up? allowing all proceeds in excess to this project to go directly into the DF operating costs.

14. Someone or a few someones need to proof read and correct spelling and grammar....I know this was already brought up, but is also VERY important. Same for the graphics area. We need individuals who are gifted in those areas to give their unbiased opinion and advice when necessary
We need a good solid structure to this plan before we get the cart ahead of the horse. Yikes...I would hate to see this get all funky! It's such a great plan!!


I think the calendar idea is great also everyone should consider that as well, using the DF artisitry work. Could be another item for DF to sell......who knows maybe someday we can do t-shirt too! That would be way cool.

Calendar?? T-Shirt?? We're artists, not sell outs, lets take this one step at a time. They are awesome ideas, but let's see where the book takes us first...I for one can't wait to see how it turns out.
