Zell Miller's speech - 09-02-04

FULL TEXT

Quote:
Where is the bi-partisanship in this country when we need it most?

Now, while young Americans are dying in the sands of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan, our nation is being torn apart and made weaker because of the Democrat's manic obsession to bring down our Commander-in-Chief.

What has happened to the party I've spent my life working in?

I can remember when Democrats believed that it was the duty of America to fight for freedom over tyranny.

It was Democratic President Harry Truman who pushed the Red Army out of Iran, who came to the aid of Greece when Communists threatened to overthrow it, who stared down the Soviet blockade of West Berlin by flying in supplies and saving the city.

Time after time in our history, in the face of great danger, Democrats and Republicans worked together to ensure that freedom would not falter. But not today.

Motivated more by partisan politics than by national security, today's Democratic leaders see America as an occupier, not a liberator.

And nothing makes this Marine madder than someone calling American troops occupiers rather than liberators.
Quote:
For it has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest.

It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.

No one should dare to even think about being the Commander in Chief of this country if he doesn't believe with all his heart that our soldiers are liberators abroad and defenders of freedom at home.

But don't waste your breath telling that to the leaders of my party today. In their warped way of thinking America is the problem, not the solution.
Quote:
Senator Kerry has made it clear that he would use military force only if approved by the United Nations.

Kerry would let Paris decide when America needs defending. I want Bush to decide.

John Kerry, who says he doesn't like outsourcing, wants to outsource our national security.

That's the most dangerous outsourcing of all. This politician wants to be leader of the free world.

Free for how long?
Quote:
In this hour of danger our President has had the courage to stand up. And this Democrat is proud to stand up with him.

Thank you.

God Bless this great country and God Bless George W. Bush.
This is one Democrat I'd vote for. He's from a time before thinly disguised communists took over the party.

That's an interesting bit of baiting you did there at the end.
By the way, you do realize that the sheer volume of lies, half-truths and bullshit said by Bush and his supporters is perhaps more than anything ever done?
And that 75% of Bush's advertisements at one point were merely attempts at mocking or ridiculing Kerry, rather than doing anything like promoting his ideas?

Actually, by going through the following link;
ref: http://www.cpusa.org/

I couldn't find any "Democrats" listed as 'Communist Members'.

So do you have any proof, or r u talking 'hyperbole bullshit', as per usual?

Zell Miller...well...after his speech Wolf Blitzer said that he seemed very angry during his talk...and Zell said "No, I was not. I'm sorry if that's the impression that I gave."

Then on Hardball he as much as challenged Chris Matthews to a duel.

This guy is wacko, 100%. I don't think I can count on my fingers the amount of times that Bush refered to American troops in Iraq as an occupying force, and Zell attacks Kerry for the same choice of words. There are some things he said that I actually do agree with...but a lot of his words...I don't know...

The problem is that Republicans have become more conservative in the past four years, and the Democrats more liberal to counter it. When both were fairly moderate, bi-partisan things could happen, but not with it like this. The one at the source is the Bush administration. He is responsible for the neo-cons that pushed the Republicans further to the right than is probably good...and therefore he is responsible for the balancing move for the democrats of becoming more liberal than before. If things don't pull together in the next few years, it's going to be a dangerous time in this country...

At least you're not using a dictionary.

Of course all people who believe in Marxist principles are card carrying members of the Communist Party, since they didn't list their names there they can't possibly be communists.

Look at this link:
http://www.cpusa.org/article/articleview/591/1/27/

They do a Kerry flip-flop in that article, but with more talent than Kerry has. They say they don't support Kerry, then they support Kerry. Kerry should hire those guys to write his speeches.

He had to deny it because being angry is something politicians aren't supposed to do. Of course he's angry. He's seventy something years old, and he's watching the party he's been a lifelong member of go right down the shitter.

If wanting to kick a journalist's ass makes one a wacko, then you can call me that too.

You've got to be kidding me. Aside from the tax cuts, Bush IS a liberal. I don't feel like listing all the liberal things he's done right this minute, it would take too long. Neo-cons are NOT more conservative that the average republican. They are pro-war liberals. The republican party is drifting so far to the left that a lot of conservatives might not vote this year.

Sure, but then consider the insane neo-con base behind Bush.

And I literally mean a duel. As in "Aaron Burr vs. Alexander Hamilton" duel.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by that.

Hell yes he wanted that. He was pissed off at Mathews, who wasn't even a twinkle in his father's eye when Miller was serving his country both in the military and in politics, trying to discredit him.

He was pissed at Matthews because Matthews was asking him what he meant by different things in his speech. Whenever these people get their fucking "talking points" questioned, they take it as personal offense...and it's stupid.

I think I know what the problem is. You might not understand the intense frustration conservatives feel when watching mainstream news sources, which are dominated by liberal thought and bias. I can easily understand how Miller got so pissed that he would say something as stupid as the duel comment.

I just find it funny (well maybe more sad than funny) that Synikul thinks Miller was right to challenge Mathews for trying to discredit him when, by Synikul's definition, Miller had no credibility to begin with.

When I said to Synikul that he might get the glove to the face, I meant by Miller.

Now you know.
