Students will be required to learn a secondary language, logic and philosophy, a basic overview of the major shaping religions of world history and their tenets, and basic firearms use.

Isn't that one of those policies it's impossible to actually enforce?

I think with the proper teachings it can be done. It'd be a hard task, but would save lives in the long run.
Bullying seems to be inherent to our nature, due to the frequency it happens. But most of it is pack mentality that can be broken down. If you get them alone and actually make them think about the consequences of their actions, they usually stop.
It's also about educating the bystanders that they need to learn to step in and stop instead of being a spectator.

I know a lot of the problems I suffer from in my adult life can be traced back to what happened to me at high school. I still have problems with crowded spaces, seeing knives, and people standing in my peripherals. When that "get out" urge hits in a panic situation, I still have to fight back turning into a raging fury.
It dosent help that I have to walk around seeing the physical scars for the rest of my life.

You find me a presidential candidate that guarantees you'll get the spot, and I'm so voting for that guy.

The only one I disagree with is secondary language. Elsewise you should just add physics and mathematics and we got a good ideal to go forward with.

In actuality I am all for going back to apprenticeships. By 12 years old most folks have a good idea of what they would like to do(possibly this is less so true today in the info age) and they should be given an aptitude test as well as a personality test to see which line of work they would be best at and which one they would most like. We would end up with specialists yes but they would be damn good specialists. Imagine a web-designer who has apprenticed since age 12 now at age 21 and what they would be able to accomplish.

Just an aside--- parents should be responsible for showing thier kids how to be safe in all circumstances. This includes firearms. Maybe the parents do not have guns but I would bet that at least 4 of thier kids friends parents do.

It would be good to also cover this in a classroom situation too. Hell of good for fending off(like we have had any) invasions if everyone knows how to use a gun and can shoot at least toward the object lol

He's got knife scars, it sounds pretty serious to me. But the solution there is to just crack down hard on those who engage in such violent behavior, not endless pre-emptive counseling.


Second languages are a must. And liberal arts educations generally work better in any field than a narrow training in one particular career that could well be obsolete by the time you grow up. That's why apprenticeships have fallen out of favor in the first world.

True. But it does have its positive side. No. We need to streamline and have a universal language. Irregardless of which one is chosen that one language should be a universal constant. So far English has proven itself as a business standard universal language.

I think secondary languages should be an elective.

There are benefits to learning another language besides simply being able to talk to people in some foreign country. That's why languages like Latin and Hebrew are still studied, after all.

I could never fight back. I was on a scholarship at a private boys school. The kids that did it were the ones whose parents paid for their education, thus got away with near murder.

Oh, and fr0g, I HAVE tried to get over it. Believe me. I even got a job when I left school as a bouncer at one of Melbourne's roughest clubs to get my own back. Didn't work.
It's just a thing I have to live with. I can push it aside, but it always comes back to haunt me.
