US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has AGAIN stated that there is no Al-Qaeda & Saddam Link...
contary to his personal claims from Sept 2002.
So just WHY did the US attack Iraq?
- Well it WASN'T for Sept 11.
- It wasn't for an "apparent" link between Al-Qaeda & Saddam..
- And it wasn't for the "mythical" Weapons of Mass Destruction..
US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said today he had seen no "strong, hard evidence" linking former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein with al-Qaeda.
He backed away from his pre-war assertions that contacts between the two went back over a decade at an event in New York.
"I have seen the answer to that question migrate in the intelligence community over a period of a year in the most amazing way," he told an audience at the Council on Foreign Relations after being asked what Saddam's connection to al-Qaeda was.
Mr Rumsfeld said there were differences in the intelligence community as to what the relationship was.
"To my knowledge, I have not seen any strong, hard evidence that links the two."
he nexus between terrorism and the Iraqi regime was a key point in the US effort to persuade the world that Saddam had to be dealt with after the September 11, 2001 attacks on the United States.
In September 2002, Mr Rumsfeld said the United States had "credible" information that al-Qaeda and Iraq had discussed safe havens and non-aggression agreements, and that al-Qaeda leaders had sought contacts in Iraq who could help them acquire weapons of mass destruction.
In his comments today, Mr Rumsfeld said he had relied on the Central Intelligence Agency for his information in the past, and appeared to blame the intelligence reporting for the way the relationship between al-Qaeda and Saddam was portrayed.
This is all legalese. The real reason we did it was to forever alter the culture of the middle-east. Those savages need civilization shoved down their throats at gunpoint. The secondary reason was OIL!
Yes, OIL!!!
And it's a damn good reason. We're going to have a puppet gov't sitting on the second largest lake of oil on the planet. That's a GOOD thing!
Actually Iraq, before America so rudely decimated it's infrastructure and so on, had a high literacy rate and good living conditions.
The only real problem at that moment had been Saddam's crazy attitude.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Four Fort Carson soldiers accused of killing an Iraqi general last year allegedly used an electrical cord to help kill him, according to charging documents in the case.
Chief Warrant Officers Lewis E. Welshofer Jr., Jefferson L. Williams, Sgt. 1st Class William J. Sommer and Spc. Jerry L. Loper were charged with murder and dereliction of duty on Monday in the death of Maj. Gen. Abed Hamed Mowhoush last November.
According to another document _ a Pentagon report given to Congress in June _ the soldiers allegedly put Mowhoush inside a sleeping bag and then bound him to prevent him from moving.
One of the warrant officers sat on Mowhoush's chest as he was interrogated and then Mowhoush was rolled over and the officer sat on his back, the report said. According to the document, Mowhoush died as the officer sat on his back.
A death certificate issued in May said Mowhoush died of asphyxiation.
And this is how America brings the (highly claimed) "freedom" & "democracy" to Iraq...
By Killing people.
..Its just a shame that the Iraqi's seldom live thru the process of having "freedom" shoved down their neck at 'gun point'.

Isn't it horrible? I don't give a rat's ass about one of Saddam's dead generals. I don't get what your point is because the men responsible are being prosecuted.
