Allright, in a Biblical sense, homosexuality is wrong; however, it has long been the saying that you are supposed to love the sinner and hate the sin. Though it does not say whether or not they like her as a person, I can only assume that this has something to do with it. I can also understand the position of *Harry Connick Jr accent from Independence Day* the reverend. I can understand the need for a law prohibiting the open discrimination of gays, but, and this where I agree with *the reverend*, because of the belief system and homosexuality being a sin, there should not be a gay person in a community leading role. This is how we open the door to our kids being corrupted. Not all homosexuals will do this, but just one instance of a community leader (ie. priest) misbehaving either around children or in public and the outcry will be horrendous. Not so good for the united minority. Though I might like you as a person, I do not have to condone what you do or support your effort for a public role in policy. That which does not kill me, makes me stong enough to kill you.

hell if i know... other than the girl in the photo was trying to unseat an openly gay city counselor... apparently the girl (in the photo) is the granddaugter of the guy trying to get the anti-gay laws in place.

I think, for the sake of decency and morality, that only homosexuals should be allowed to hold public office. Possibly bisexuals. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.

That is questionable, but I'll accept that your views on that point rest on your religious beliefs.
It is often said that the fact that Greek society was more homosexual shows that it can be influenced by culture. I'm not so sure. Prisoners will often perform homosexual acts simply because there are no women about, and give it up when released. Dogs do the same - to take an example, my friend used to own two male dogs who would try to hump each other. I doubt that they were influenced by 'doggy gay culture.' Instead I suspect that it was the absence of females. There is no good evidence to show that people can be 'corrupted' by exposure to homosexuality. 'If we take in our hand any volume; of divinity or school metaphysics, for instance; let us ask, Does it contain any abstract reasoning concerning quantity or number? No. Does it contain any experimental reasoning, concerning matterof fact and existence? No. Commit it then to the flames: for it contains nothing but sophistry and illusion.'

Unles you're talking about Tony Blair and David Blunkett or something, which I doubt you are. it's a sin to love another of your own sex, but hate is okay by christian standards?
do they really wonder why christianity is losing members to more...open minded facets of spirituality? To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Christianity is growing in popularity. So is Islam, which is even less open-minded.
Technically speaking, nowhere in the Bible is there a stance against love. Jesus kisses his disciples all the time on the lips; hell, everyone does in ancient times. It just doesn't advocate taking it so far as having a sexual relationship with someone of the same gender. I'm against that stance, but to say that the issue is about love is to over-simplify it. When people talk of the freedom of writing, speaking or thinking I cannot choose but laugh. No such thing ever existed. No such thing now exists; but I hope it will exist. But it must be hundreds of years after you and I shall write and speak no more.
