Blair may have taken a hammering, but the Tories will ruin the country. They won't back track on Tony's tory-esque poltics and drive the country further into a class devide and then drive up itnerest rates and quangotise every industry for it's cronies.

The UK is about to sink very quickly into a recession with a moron at the helm.

It depends what you mean by 'screwed' really. I mean, Labour creates quangos and appoints cronies no less than the Conservatives would, yet they've done very well for this country (incidentally by using 'tory-esque' economics). I think it's also a little odd to say that the Tories are the class warriors, when class warfare is clearly most at home on the Labour left. Anyway, I think that Labour would still make the best government, but I don't really think that a Conservative government, even a poor one, would leave this country 'screwed.'

Look at the mess of the post thatcherite years. A party with inadaquate leadership and weak back-bone and a whole load of scandal and the party drove interest rates to 15% drove property prices through the floor and essentially crippled borrowers.

I think they'll do the same again, but privatise more of the public sector. How long before the NHS and Police force are history and how long before we have budget fire-fighters?
