Once again they want to raise taxes on Property. You know I think public libraries are real swell, but Does Any One Know that the Country is in Recession? ANYONE! They can start on it now and it can fall apart right when the next Depression Hits.
Here I am, eighty years old, and the IRS just foreclosed on my home because I couldn't afford to pay them $5000.00 a year in Taxes. Sorry kids the family home got taken away. Maybe I could just have them all live with me like in Mexico of China. Nice close family because all our income is going into something that we Already Have too Many of!
Another Thing The Irrates Me is Mono Rail. Why can't they just get another competing mass transite business? There's enough business. It reminds me of Europe where only a few are given the opportunity to get a head. Screw everyone else. Like we need it, but come on!
Everyone in the USA LEFT Europe! Okay. Does it make sense to anyone!

Not as bad as the last administration.
Gov't is a necessary evil, but it can be minimized. Smaller government is better than big government. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Taxation is necessary. With taxation, the end justifies the means. It may be a pain in the ass when you are paying the bills, but it's not that bad. Do you want your kids to go to school? Do you want live free, with the right to do whatever you'd like to do with your life depending on how hard you are willing to work? Do you want to be protected from the threats of war? I can go on and on.
If the people of America would open their eyes and ears and learn just a little bit about how America's income system works, they would discover there is always a way to get what you want. For instance...
I am an independent, living on my own and paying my own bills. I have no money for college and can't afford it. But you know what I did? I got on the net and went to the college and discovered I can get free money. For the fall semester at my local community college, I recieved $2025.00 by way of a Pell Grant. And I received the same about for the spring semester. And what I don't spend on tuition, books, etc... I get a check in the mail with what I've got left, and I can do whatever I want with it. I'll get 950 dollars back in October. And then another 950 dollars in March.
This country is one big game. If you don't learn the rules, you will lose.
If you lost your house to forclosure, then there is a reason. And there is likely a way to get it back, or a way to get a new home... depending on the reason they took it in the first place.
Anyways, just my opinion.

If they earn 96% of the money it seems fair...
But I thing houses are different to income. the tradition of home ownwrship and inheritance of the family home has a special place... Taxation should be on income.

Even if the start at $29000 they might, as a group, earn 95% of the nations salary. As a person who earns rather less than $29000 I must admit that I am not crying into my beer about it all.

You should be thankful to the people who carry your load, and don't call them greedy when they want to keep more of their own hard labor. | While the things people need and demand should be paid for, did you know that the 16th Amendment took away everyone's right to vote on changes that effect everyone. It is going back to Pre-Revolutionary times. "Taxation without Representation." Quote:
Amendment XVI. fn8 [ Annotations ]
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

Taxes are necessary, however I believe what it's being spent on that and how much being taxed that should be questioned.

I would put tariffs on imported goods and drop the intrusive income tax. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

I think we could abolish the income tax if we did. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

You'd damage your exports because of the inevitable retaliatory duties imposed on the export of US goods to other countries. Prices would simply rise, or wages would fall because of higher business prices and you'd be no better off in the end, probably worse off. In terms of economy, income tax is probably the best method of doing things. What's the big deal about abolishing income tax anyway? Do you not want to feel like you're paying for the police/army etc etc? You still would be, just indirectly and less efficiently.

It's a form of corporate welfare.
If the government needs money, it should simply tax and get it. That's direct, transparent, accountable. These hidden or indirect taxes are the wrong way to get money, since they are pernicious social engineering as well as a revenue source.

My problem with the income tax is that it is so invasive.

What about privacy rights? | In a word: flat tax.
My city wage tax is a flat rate, with no exemptions, deductions, or exceptions. It is simply removed from my paycheck and there's no need to even file a return. A step removed from this is my state income tax, which requires a 1 page form and can even be done over the phone.
But the federal tax laws, with their millions of lines of text, and an abomination.
If today's income tax is so complicated, the answer is to simply it, not switch to another form of taxation, with a different set of evils.
