Look, son, you have a choice. You can have either freedom, or you can have security. There's not one civilization that's been able to have both. Most have compromised having a certain amount of freedom, and a certain amount of security.
Personally, I go for the freedom.
Further, I don't own a gun. I fuggin' hate guns. However, I support people's right to own one.
Why?
Well, it's symbolic. See, it used to be that we were allowed to own guns in case we needed to clean out the government again and start over.
Clearly, we can't do that anymore, but symbolically I view it as a good thing. Because when the government takes our guns, most other freedoms will soon follow.
Finally, guns are for pussies that can't defend themselves hand to hand. (Unless they're a trained Police Officer, Security Guard, or member of the armed forces, where such things are necessity.) Pussy.

BTW, you got that last line confused. My point is that if someone draws a gun to KILL YOU, there is nothing you could do about it. You are dead because you are too much of a pussy to consider having the means to use such deadly force. Of course that is just natural selection...
