I'll be frank and note that the problems on this board have almost invariably started as a result from spamming by conservatives. This is not a statement against any of you who hold conservative ideals, the ideals are not the problem but how some people choose to present them. So far, Synikul can take credit as being the only current member with extreme conservative ideals that has made a succesfull effort to refrain from flaming and trolling. People with liberal ideals are indeed the majority on this board and the discussions that are held on this board are naturally heated and emotional, after all matters of life and death are literally being discussed.
While we are the majority on this board, we have to remember that it goes both ways. Having seen and participated in the debates and in spite of having trolled and flamed myself: We need to keep in mind that trolling or flaming someone who is just expressing a controversial viewpoint that runs against what we believe in is not fair and leads to resentment and potential flaming down the road. Remember; attack the viewpoint and the not the poster on a personal basis, it's as simple as writing "That sounds quite racist of you; here's why . . .-" Instead of "You stupid racist."
I have a great deal of faith in all of you, having played a part in a lot of events on the politics board and I am confident that you all have no trouble making this distinction in nearly every instance. It's just that we sometimes get offended by the ideal that the other person is advocating. Look at the true content of the post, even if it's something completely assinine and offensive to you, keep in mind that it's not personal and just the way the other person looks at things. Even if they are wrong. If somone advocates something that angers you so much that you have to get nasty about it. Keep in mind that you are free to rant about it all you like on the bitch board, invite the other poster if you like, there is nothing weak about doing that. More than likely, if something bothers one of us that much I'll probably be throwing my own two cents in. Of course that won't be neccessary if the offending comment is a troll, which it would probably have to be.
Well, That's all for now.

I don't even care so much about trolling. My main peeve is direct flaming.

That is acceptable. He flamed what I said, and not me personally. I prefer political discussion to be on the rough side. People tend to be more honest when they are allowed to do that.

As Iron's Rite said, if you want to do that, do it on The Bitch Board, and give us a link to it here. I will cheerfully go there if anyone wants to flame me. I love a good flaming if it's in the right place. I can take it. This is DarkForum. I wouldn't be here if I didn't like it.

I find it amusing when I get flamed for sarcasm...I guess sarcasm doesn't go down so well with some people

Rational debate wasn't always a strong thing here. Its been a while, but politics insight passion and people don't always react rationally when their passions are involved, nor do they always exercise the breadth of their intelligence.
