Nearly one million jobs created in three months
June 4, 2004
- WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that 248,000 jobs were created in the month of May, exceeding expectations on Wall Street.
Today's new job numbers come on the heels of outstanding reports in March when 353,000 new jobs were created and 346,000 Americans found work in April.
With today's numbers, 947,000 jobs have been created in the past three months. This marks the strongest three-month job growth period in the past four years.
"This is great news for Americas workers and consumers," said House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.).
"Our economy is robust and will remain strong as more Americans who want a job find one. Republican economic policies based on tax relief are working for the American people." Since the President signed into law tax relief for all Americans, we have seen the economy grow on average of 5.6 percent over the last nine months, making it the strongest surge since 1984. After-tax incomes are up 11 percent since December of 2000, illustrating how Republican policies help people to keep more of what they earn.
Household wealth is at an all-time high, while new and existing home sales are at near record highs.
In May, Congress extended tax relief for working families that repeals the alternative minimum tax (AMT) and the marriage penalty tax, expands the 10 percent tax bracket for low-income earners and prevented the $1000 child tax credit. http://www.katu.com/business/story.asp?ID=67956
Wow, after tax incomes up 11% since Bush took over! That's amazing that the American people have so much more money in their pockets!
I'll bet Kerry is bummed. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Btt?
What in the world does BTT mean?
By the way, as I have stated to you on numerous occassions across threads that are nearly exactly identical to this one, just because the job amount is increasing doesn't mean unemployment is decreasing.
And just because unemployment is decreasing doesn't mean it's actually decreasing.
Due to the way that unemployment is figured out, which is nothing more than seeing how many people are on unemployment plans(Which run out after 3-6 months or thereabouts), it means you'll never have an even remotely accurate number of how many people are unemployed.
Then you have all of these jobs appearing, but where exactly are they appearing? If a huge amount of jobs appear in an area saturated with a large amount of jobs it means nothing more than excess jobs in an area that doesn't need them, while the outer areas which contain almost no jobs keep that same low number. The jobs are there...but the unemployment is still there too, and in great strength. The numbers look good, sure, but there is a long way to go. Hey, bread is a good time for me...a-woodle-oo-doo, singing bread is a good time for EVERYbody...

How many workers have 'left the workforce' due to jobless benefits running out? Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

Unemployment is at 5.6%, which is exactly the percentage that Clinton touted as low unemployment when he ran for reelection.
The Bush Boom is amazing, and is only going to get better with the next round of tax cuts next year. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Ah, more tax cuts, and we're putting...oh, what was it? $81 billion into Iraq? Surely you jest. The national debt is high enough. Where is this going to come from? Hey, bread is a good time for me...a-woodle-oo-doo, singing bread is a good time for EVERYbody...

The Bush Boom is amazing, and is only going to get better with the next round of tax cuts next year. | So far you've been told why the unemployment number is totally and utterly inaccurate at least 5 times.
If it hasn't sunk in yet one can only consider you an idiot.
Or someone trying to bait us by acting stupid on purpose.
Take your pick. (\ /)

Time for a remedial leson in Economics 101:
Cutting taxes increases income to the Treasury, by increasing economic activity.
When Reagan cut taxes from the highest rate of 93% or so, down to 39%, he doubled the amount of revenue the Treasury took in.
The deficit is caused by spending more than you take in. Tax cuts will only make the deficit smaller, not larger. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

No, we know that you keep saying it, but it's still nonsense.
Bush is on a pace to add 11 million new jobs when he is reelected. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Not to mention, that people without brains, and people eaisly bought in by pier pressure, will all vote kerry, mainly beacuse of the giant "ANTI BUSH" movement, that dosent seem to have a head.

If people were merely switching jobs, then there would be no "new" jobs, just existing ones.
No, the proof is undeniable of the Bush Boom, just like it was when Reagan ran for reelection. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

| Why is it that you were so quick to claim the job market was doing badly two years ago? Weren't the UE figures equally unreliable then? Or are only recovery figures to be dismissed? | |

I'll spoil the surprise: the number of "discouraged workers" is unremarkable for a post-recession recovery.

No... 'discouraged workers' is workers who leave their unemployment benefits, not those whose benefits run out. Bismarck once said "Fools say they like to learn from their experiences, but I prefer to learn from the experience of others."

Persons not in the labor force who want and are available for a job and who have looked for work sometime in the past 12 months (or since the end of their last job if they held one within the past 12 months), but who are not currently looking because they believe there are no jobs available or there are none for which they would qualify.
