I find clonning offenesive because it diminishes our uniqueness, it also makes the organic aspect of what we are more mechanichal. However the potential is amazing, both postivley and negativly. Its a very interesting topic because it redifines exactly what we are

I'm not arguing that there's a god. Just that the general population's idea of what would be considered god-like.
For instance, if I shot a lightning bolt out of my ass, I'd say that was god-like. Doesn't mean I believe in god. Means I relate one situation to the perception of a deity. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

Shooting lightning out of your ass WOULD be god like, because its physically impossible, and willing the impossible to happen is kind of what God does. It doesnt matter what the public perceives to be "god like", because lets be honest, the public is fucking stupid. My point is simply that this technology is a product of science. God is a product of faith. And the two are like oil and water. Unfortunately the followers of God hold tremendous power over what we can do with our scientific technology, and its holding us back. What I wish is that people would wise up and just realize how silly the whole concept is, so we could get about living in a fucking rational society where Stem Cells can be researched, rape victims can have abortions without being pelted by rocks, Evolution can be taught, and people can think for themselves. I, of course, realize this will never happen, as man is weak, and needs a crutch to help him get over the fear of death. But it doesnt stop me from wishing.

And 20 years ago, cloning was considered an impossibility. Who's to say that we won't invent some weapon where people can shit out lightning?
I'm not arguing that its basis is scientific. I'm arguing that it will be and is already perceived as a God-like technology. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

But it doesnt stop me from wishing. | Ever consider that maybe youre the silly one? I dont buy into an organized religion either, but to say with any certainty that all this shit exists from nothing is contrary to scientific method. If that were the case it can start raining pink hippos at any moment.
Rationality doesnt = athiesm. If anything the most irrational angry people I know are athiests.
If stem cell research was so fucking great, why arent there millions of venture capitalists like you and me (with money) dumping funding into it? If I had a leg up on early research for something that was going to cure a deadly disease I wouold toss the family fucking farm into it.
The fact is that the "cures" arent anywhere in sight. The funding is FEDERAL. Stem cell research ISNT illegal. Not even in Missouri despite what all the SP's want us to believe. The only thing that is really illegal is the cloning. And I agree with that. Cloning should NOT be done on human beings. Its a fucking abomination of nature.
The rest of the shit you wrote is absurd as well, where in teh USA cant rape victims get an abortion?
What the majority of people against abortion oppose is abortion as a form of birth control. Abortion as a sacriment. Abortion as a good thing like all the NARAL and NOW fucks want us to think.

I disagree with your athiestic bullshit that it makes people kill each other. Any real historian would know people kill each other for the same reasons as always throughout history. Greed, power and lust. Religion just gets tossed in as an explanation and a scapegoat. But you dont want to talk about greed and lust for power, because thats too hard.

I'm not arguing that its basis is scientific. I'm arguing that it will be and is already perceived as a God-like technology. | OK, if you put some sort of conductor in your ass that you were able to discharge at will, then technically the technology is available to make you shoot lightning bolts out of your ass, I assumed that you were speaking of shooting them out by sheer force of will, which would have nothing to do with technology. The fact that this argument centers around shitting lightning bolts makes it hard for me to have .
And like I said, it shouldnt matter what the public perception is. The public perception is that we should pull out of Iraq, I happen to disagree. The public is often wrong. Branding anything as "god like" when it can be done by man is simply an incorrect statement, and frankly an insult to God.

Whether the public is right or wrong calling it god-like doesn't matter. The morality of cloning a human being is what matters. And yes morality is relative.
But cloning is still wrong. In Memory of the Busby Babes :

But cloning is still wrong. | So says you, I say that not taking advantage of technology to cure diseases that afflict millions of people, people who live in suffering every day of their lives, is wrong.

What do you say Fr0g? Should we liquidate all the orphans and minorities and stuff? I mean that would strengthen the species too.

well Billy how would you decide whom to kill that is the trap of such a precedent
on the other hand clonning is simple you just heal the sick. Right? of course not its one of those ambigous techonolgies like dynmite useful to do great good and great harm.
AS far as the publics perceptions goes - that perception is usally flawed when considering a singular topic and exploring it with reasons, however when considering all that clonning/stem cell research incapsulates the public is very good at deeming what mankind is ready for

When I suggest cloning a human liver to implant into someone who is sick and dying, I of course mean we should kill some orphans first. Because the two go hand in hand.
I can use sarcasm too! | |
