As have I. But you either didn't understand the reason why you were there or are exagerating. Both have occured on this forum.

and the choice, from your arguement is either have them attacking us here. Same thing as the 8 acts of war committed under the Clinton watch on American soil or take the fight to them so our civilians aren't the target.

under their so-called "religion" (islam is also a political stance), there are no civilians or non-combatants.

McCain was tortured - the fact that he can still be pro-war/torture is beyond me. I cant wrap my head around it, how could you be broken in the Hanoi Hilton for five years and still want to inflict the same torment on others?

There are reports that he wasn't so tortured afterall. Some of his fellow prisoners have reported that he was put up in a hotel and given prostitutes instead of being a tortured as some claim. When he is asked about this, he just changes the subject, repeats what he has claimed before and won't give proof so we get word against word.

And when it's 1 person's word against several others, you have to go with the majority unles evidence shows otherwise

People need to start realizing that there are more choices than just democrat or republican..... all you have to do is not be fucking lazy and do some research.

He isn't pro torture, he doesn't even condone Water Boarding, which isn't torture. And War is a part of life and human nature.

I believe he is referring to the attepts to destroy the 4th 6th and 7th ammendments under the guise that it is for our own protection.... we are no safer now than what we were 7 years ago..... hell we could very well be even more vunerable now than then with most of our armed forces overseas...... and then our government says they back our troops yet it takes them almost 3 year to give our troops the armored vehicals they desprately need...... I have no problems with a pro military pres, maintaining our military strength is necesary for a countries ultimate survival, I have a problem with the ones who wish to use that might anytime they see fit, whether there is cause for it or not. Afganistan was good cause, Iraq not so much.... Iran maybe, but not Iraq.

Billy, im not going to get into another debate with you about this. our views are polar opposites and their is slim-to-none chance of convincing the other that we are right.

but to humor you, ill list off a few things that i view as tyrannical

1. torturing prisoners (waterboarding is torture, if you dont think so - fly to florida and let me strap your ass to a see-saw with saran wrap over your mouth and nose while I pour water down your throat)

2. spending money on an unpopular war while our countrymen starve and sleep on the street after returning home from combat.

3. tactics of the DHS - no knock warrants, warrantless wiretapping...etc

4. preemptive strike and invasion of a sovereign nation without credible cause.

5. The president lying to the nation for YEARS after we knew that Iran had ceased its weapon-grade nuclear program.

6. the entire propaganda machine; but especially the guy who came up with "axis of evil"

7. approved military tactics (outside of waterboarding) - for example: sexual harasment; verbal abuse; humiliation; scare tactics

8. dick cheney (nuff said)

Water boarding isn't torture any more than swimming is.

And none of that shit you mentioned made me think "tyranny". Tyranny would be if they actually curtailed your rights, you don't seem to have lost any, so i don't see how you can complain about tyranny.

Do you even, like, educate yourself at all on this shit? Have you ever turned on a radio or the news on TV? If you had you'd realize that Mccain is very much anti-torture, and its one of the problems his party mates have with his nomination. Your ignorance continues to astound me. Please die.

Also, your point #5 has been proven wrong. there is evidence that they didn't stop but only stated they did.

Hot Air » Blog Archive » McCain hoisted by his own campaign finance petard

Is he now getting himself in trouble?

Maybe I'm just seeing this wrong, but Billy, have you become more republican in the past years? Kinda funny, back in about 2001-2002 I was really conservative and you were really liberal, looks like we're starting to switch roles haha (from what I see in this thread at least).

Have you ever considered that maybe I do understand why I was there, and I'm not exaggerating? Mayhap I just don't support the war, and I want us out of there.

And to further back up what I was saying, I know exactly why I was there; because 1st Cavalry needed a cryptological language analyst with a security clearance high enough to deal with highly sensitive, classified info.

And from a slightly sarcastic point of view, if we have this many troops in the most oil rich area in the world, at least we can go capture an oil pump or something, I paid $3.73 per gallon of gas yesterday! That's nuts!

florida sucks! you have to state democrat or republican...they don't offer any other choices when registering.

I couldn't agree more. I have no problem with sending the military out to conquer land for oil, it's a vital natural resource, and we've been killing each other over things like that since the first caveman picked up a club and hit someone with it, it's human nature, and it will never change.

BTW I'm a veteran of the 1989 Panama invasion as an 11B in the 7th ID. Yeah, I'm fucking old.

I turned against this war when it became common for our soldiers and marines to be thrown in jail for acting like they were in a war or something.

The Haditha marines are a prime example. They cleared the house right next to where the IED went off, with textbook urban warfare tactics that every infantryman learns. That involves throwing grenades into a room before you enter it.

BTW I did that shit in Panama City WITHOUT grenades because we were concerned about the poor civilians. That's a hair raising experience.

Recently in Afghanistan, a sniper team was convicted of murder when they shot an "unarmed civilian" when he discovered their position. Ex
