Marxist Groups in the Anti-War Movement - 08-13-03

The large anti-war protests were organized by International A.N.S.W.E.R. .

Going down their Coalition List , I see a bunch of PLO front groups like the "Al-Awda Palestine Right of Return Coalition of New York and New Jersey".

There were also many marxist groups like the "Freedom Socialist Party", "Workers World Party" and several Communist Party groups.

To name a few on the list...

Quote:
Manfred Eber - Chairperson, Communist Party of Austria, Tirol, Innsbruck, Austria

H. Charfo - Head of the Department of International Relations, Central Committee, Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, Praha, Czech Republic

Patrik Köbele - Chairman, German Communist Party, Ruhr-Westfalen, Germany

Comunista de la Argentina, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Patricio Echegary - General Secretary, Partido Comunista de la Argentina, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Maher Kouraytem - The Lebanese Communist Party, Beirut, Lebanon

Maher Kouraytem - The Lebanese Communist Party, Beirut, Lebanon
There were also a few groups for Mumia, a notorious cop killer - "Rainbow Flags for Mumia" is just one.

Communists are not pacifists. Neither is the PLO for that matter. And Mumia is a cop killer who should have been hanged for his crime a long time ago. It says alot about the so called "peace movement" by looking at the company they keep.

Poor little Sixgun,..
trying to STILL raise support for his deluded ideological thinking...

Unfortunately it still escapes Sixgun that not everyone is communist, just because they didn't support the War.
Yes, there are some Marxist & Socialist movements in there... so what.
its also interesting to note many, many intellectuals, never supported the War...;

Ramsey Clark - former U.S. Attorney General
Michel Chossudovsky - Professor of Economics, University of Ottawa,
Howard Zinn - historian and author
Michael Parenti Ph.D. - author of 'America Besieged'
Ben DuPuy - former Deputy Ambassador-at-Large, Haiti School Of the Americas Watch
Eric Mar - Commissioner, San Francisco Board of Education; CFA/CTA; Asian American Studies San Francisco State University*, California
John Gilbert - university instructor and national coordinator, University Foreign Language Instructors, SNUR-CGIL (University & Research Union) and CGIL (Confederazione Generale Italiana del Lavoro -- General Confederation of Italian Labor)*, Florence, Italy
Tom Nagy - professor, George Washington University*, Washington DC
Helena Papadopoulos - Researcher, Center for the Comparative Study of Law and Society, Rabieh, Lebanon
ever notice how there's never any professors jumping out of 'the wood works' to announce that War is the best policy... why
'becuase war is void of logic to begin with.

True -- some are merely the useful idiots thereof, the vapid, manipulated cannon fodder.

Actually, I think Gandhi made an interesting analogy...

Quote:
First they ignore you..
Then they laugh at you..
Then they fight you ..
Then you win.

- Gandhi 1869-1948
You tried ignorging the voice's of more than 10 Million people world wide, against a War of Agression in Iraq - and did it work?
You've tried laughing at the same protestors, claiming their nothing more than "useful idiots" - and has it worked?

Things are changing,..

As a pacifist, I never could really understand why you kept calling me a 'communist'.

Yes, luckily we did ignore them, and now millions of previously enslaved Iraqis are free, and the rape and torture of thousands came to an end.

I know you were rooting for the other outcome, the perpetuation of repression, torture, maiming, rape rooms, etc..but you'll just have to live with this disappointment. There are other vicious despotisms you can rally behind.

Yes, it is clear they are indeed useful idiots, but not as useful as they thought.

Er, actually I think the more things change the less they stay the same. That's logic, that is.

It's like when people say 'it's the exception that proves the rule.' Exceptions don't prove rules, they disprove them. Anyone can see that.

Only if one is overly literal. If one reads with any perception, the implications are clear:

The more trivial, superficial things change, the more the larger truths stay the same.

Exceptions prove the overall generality of a rule. Not all rules imply 100% uniformity. Something that is, say, 99% predictable is still a useful rule.

Was all this really necessary? Perhaps you were just trolling?

Taken out of context.

What we have are communists pretending to be pacifists so as to cynically make use of the real pacifists in undermining the US war effort against its enemies.

BTW, you are the guy who wants to abolish capitalism.

Not at all. I just dislike it when people use meaningless little quotelets as if it somehow adds something to a discussion.

The point about the rule thing is that conversations sometimes go like this. 'Certain people always like to do such-and-such a thing.' 'What about so-and-so?' 'Aah, he's the exception that proves the rule.' As if the fact that the exception exists somehow reinforces the first point. It doesn't. It is true however that exceptions only exist when there is a general trend towards something, I agree, but in themselves they actually prove nothing. They are only exceptions because the general rule has been established by some other means.
