Israeli Prisoner Swap to Happen Tuesday


JERUSALEM - A prisoner exchange between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas will take place Tuesday, with two Lebanese in Israeli custody to be swapped for an Israeli businessman and the bodies of three Israeli soldiers, a lawyer for the Lebanese said Saturday.



The lawyer, Zvi Rish, told The Associated Press that two Lebanese militants captured by Israel would be freed in exchange for Israeli businessman Elhanan Tannenbaum and the bodies of three Israeli soldiers — all kidnapped by the Lebanese guerrilla group Hezbollah in October 2000.


The lawyer said that Lebanese militant Samir Kantar, jailed by Israel in 1979 for killing three Israelis, would not be freed "at this time."
