The statement he made was a bold racially discriminative non-sequiter from what very little I remember of it, whose only purpose was to vociferously ram down the throat of anyone British that the IRA are brave freedom fighters risking life and limb for Ireland... in actual fact, that is what he's been doing all along in this thread, despite the fact that if he'd ever been to Ireland he'd know that most Irish people who just want a quiet life dislike the IRA a lot more than the English ever have...

Actually, a fraction of 1% of Western Europeans are Marxist... They seem to have embraced the US Christian Right's ideal of greed, selfishness and looking after number one with complete gusto... A Liberal would not be displaying a missionary zeal, amid total lack of any public clamour for the move, to make us all carry biometric identification... Just a side note. When Congress in the US voted to grant the President the authority to go to war one of the first Congressmen to vote yes and several after him were Democrats and staunch liberals.

California though its governence is usually done by a Republican and a conservative almost always carries the presidential liberal electoral vote and was one of the first states to adopt strict anti-smoking laws. All those laws were put in place by liberals. Including the anti-smoking Bar Law amongst others.

Liberals really are the people that are putting up the tobacco laws, and trying to censor our music and movies. Not to mention trying to take away our right to defend ourselves. Nobody is guilt-free in this political world.

As far as the Christian Right, they are not at all like the "Country Club" wing of the GOP as you describe them. They are more like the Taliban than anything else. Their motivation is religious dogma rather than making money.

Your point about Liberals not invading other countries was way off. It was the liberals that got us into war with Serbia. Heck it was LBJ that really built up US involvement in the Vietnam War and it was Nixon that got US out. The liberals like to get on their crusades where the conservatives have traditionally been Isolationists.

I get annoyed at the religious fanatics. Sometimes they can be convenient allies on some issues, but I wish that people would get past such primitive superstitions.

The Christian Right don't really exist in the UK... Atheism is very much the dominant religion here... Walk past a Church on a Sunday morning in the UK and you'll encounter a sea of white hair and blue rinses, because very few people under 50 here are interested in dragging themselves out of bed on a December morning to listen to two hours of hypocrisy in sub zero temperatures......

Tipper Gore and Hillary Clinton are spearheading the attack on movies and music over here, both Democratic females. Maybe its just the bitches that are the problem.

As for smoking, I know in Kansas only one city that has gone so far as to outlaw smoking in all public places. Not surprisingly it was in one of 2 counties in our state that went blue last election.
