He knew it was coming. There's no way Bush would be able to avoid being pressured by a Democrat controlled Congress to dump him. He gets to say he left of his own accord this way, instead of being fired.

What amazes me is that it took this long as it is. Rummy fucked Viet Nam, he's fucked Iraq, and hopefully we'll be able to come up with a better strategy to get the job done and get our troops home rather than that stupid "Stay the course" crap that's been forced down our throats this long.

The very fact that they already had someone lined up shows me that it's been coming. Interesting timing, though.. the day after elections and the day after the Repubs lose the House to the Democrats. And are close to losing the Senate, too.

It has been planned for sometime, and I wish they would have done it BEFORE the election for the bumpage, but Bush even said he didnt want to seem weak because the Dems have been howling for his resignation for a few years.

And they already said that we arent going to surrender which is what the dems want us to do. This is just Bush building up some credit with the lunatic left so he can try to punch through some other shit. But its all good, we arent leaving Iraq anytime soon. And I cant wait for the Dems to do their thing and try to cut Iraqs funding and impeach Bush, then they basically lose thier majority in 08 and another presidency.

You're not wrong on that front. By checks and balances, I meant amongst the wings of government. I'd like to see some support again for labor unions.
I'd also prefer to never have John Kerry, or a counterpart, in the White House.

Maybe Im naive, but I actually believe Bush when he said he didnt want to release Rumsfeld before the elections, because he didn't want the troops to believe he was making such an important military move strictly for the sake of politics. I mean, everything a politician does is based in politics, but for some reason I think he actually did this for the morale of his men.

Just because you disagree with someone doesn't make them "bad" or "mean" for wanting what they're convicted of. That's part of this growing up thing.

I like the checks and balances and would disagree with him. But guess what. And take notice of this phrase closely.

Thats what I would prefer, of course. But I still prefer a direction rather than nothing. Wether it be full steam ahead or resounding steps backwards(liberalism). In which case I would be forced to make a choice, adapt or move. I would move of course, but I hate this middle of the road bullshit. We are going to end up with the worst of BOTH parties. Giant government, entitlements I get to pay for, overseas wars, politically correct culture, but run by homosexuals and feminists, with big corporations riding above it all. Thats what you fucking get when theres checks and balances. I would prefer either 1 or the other.
