Conspiracy -- Slippery When Oiled - 06-08-04

Hello.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Okay..enough goofing off.

This conspiracy thread relates to a conspiracy that I've pondered on, and thought on, and monkeyed with, and liked to say and, and and and and and...erm..guess I wasn't done goofing off.
Anywho.

What's the point to being in Iraq? Why did we say no to requests by Saddam relating to oil/money sharing? What really happened?

My conspiracy is: America planned the downfall and events relating to Iraq in order to acquire it's oil.

I'm here to explain the "oil history".

First off we need to start at the very beginning of the oil relations.

Waaaaayyyyy back...:
http://www.villagevoice.com/issues/0314/ridgewar3.php

Under Jimmy Carter the U.S. applied sanctions to Iraq because of its human rights violations. Reagan removed the sanctions shortly after he became president.

An act of good faith on Reagan's part? Perhaps, perhaps not, or perhaps he was being manipulated. In the end only Reagan knows, and we all know that he's gone for good.

But wait, there's more!

In the early 1980s, as Saddam was gassing the Kurds, Rumsfeld, acting as a special envoy for Reagan, turned up on the dictator's doorstep in Baghdad, and talked about how the U.S. needed Iraq and vice versa. Rumsfeld promised Saddam that the U.S. would support his rule, negotiating cheap loans and providing equipment of various sorts.

Yes, Rumsfeld! I don't know if this is the same Rumsfeld we all know and hate nowadays, or if it was some son of his, but in the end we have Rumsfeld there trying to act chummy toward Saddam, trying to "buy" his friendship.

He never raised the issue of poison gas. In fact, when the UN undertook consideration of an Iranian resolution condemning the use of gas, the U.S. worked against it.

You're reading that right. Another sign of how the US wanted to help out Iraq(Remember the Iran/Iraq conflict? This was around/at the time of that event, so limiting the weapons of Iran would help Iraq). And then there's the choice to totally ignore the poison gas crap. Odd, isn't it?

At the time, Saddam was gassing the Kurds, and if the U.S. were to come down against him on that score, then the pipeline most certainly would go down the drain. Beginning with Rumsfeld, Reagan top officials hoping to make the deal kissed Saddam's ass, sidestepping the poison-gas issue, and snuggling up with the man they now say is a vile dictator. In the end, Saddam turned down the pipeline.

Again, you're reading that right. Saddam was being a bastard, and he turned down the US when it tried to go with a pipeline. Yup..he turned them down. HOW DARE HE?! Such...such anger that must've swelled up in the officials who had sucked up so often, and the fact that they'd have to deal with Saddam in order to get the oil was also a problem.

So that's all of the info from that link which is worth looking at. Next up: The events of the Gulf War and how it was somewhat BSish.

http://deoxy.org/wc/warcrim2.htm#charge

In 1989, General Colin Powell, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and General Norman Schwarzkopf, Commander in Chief of the Central Command, completely revised U.S. military operations and plans for the Persian Gulf to prepare to intervene in a regional conflict against Iraq. The CIA assisted and directed Kuwait in its actions. At the time, Kuwait was violating OPEC oil production agreements, extracting excessive amounts of oil from pools shared with Iraq and demanding repayment of loans it made to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war. Kuwait broke off negotiations with Iraq over these disputes. The U.S. intended to provoke Iraq into actions against Kuwait that would justify U.S. intervention

Confused? I know..it's a tad long and annoying, but thems the breaks. If you can't figure it out, the US was basically acting chummy toward Kuwait(who in turn was taking IRAQ oil).

This, of course, is what lead up to the invasion of Kuwait by Iraq...but that's not all.

In July 1990, General Schwarzkopf and his staff ran elaborate, computerized war games pitting about 100,000 U.S. troops against Iraqi armored divisions.

What's this? Why it seems to me like they were preparing for the war, which they knew was looming. Nice to know they had some "premeditated warring" going eh?

But....

The U.S. showed no opposition to Iraq's increasing threats against Kuwait. U.S. companies sought major contracts in Iraq. The Congress approved agricultural loan subsidies to Iraq of hundreds of millions of dollars to benefit U.S. farmers.

So we were acting nice to Iraq, we were ignoring how they were threatening our friends and we were even making money off of Iraq. You'd think that'd mean we'd remain friendly until they at least invaded Kuwait, right?

However, loans for food deliveries of rice, corn, wheat and other essentials bought almost exclusively from the U.S. were cut off in the spring of 1990 to cause shortages. Arms were sold to Iraq by U.S. manufacturers. When Saddam Hussein requested U.S. Ambassador April Glaspie to explain State Department testimony in Congress about lraq's threats against Kuwait, she assured him the U.S. considered the dispute a regional concern, and it would not intervene. By these acts, the U.S. intended to lead Iraq into a provocation justifying war.

Guess again...here it states about how the US suddenly stopped giving them necessary goods(which means it'd destabilize their economy and cause shortages that would otherwise lead to major problems). Then, as if that wasn't enough Saddam was sold weapons(again, a hint that the US knew Saddam was going to attack), and even went so far as to say they wouldn't interfere if Saddam attacked Kuwait. Yeah...we know what happened there now don't we?

On August 2, 1990, Iraq occupied Kuwait without significant resistance.

In case you were wondering when it happened.

On August 3, 1990, without any evidence of a threat to Saudi Arabia, and King Fahd believed Iraq had no intention of invading his country, President Bush vowed to defend Saudi Arabia. He sent Secretary Cheney, General Powell, and General Schwarzkopf almost immediately to Saudi Arabia where on August 6, General Schwarzkopf told King Fahd the U.S. thought Saddam Hussein could attack Saudi Arabia in as little as 48 hours.

I love this one. See all of those names? Bush, Cheney and even Powell! All of those nifty names we know now as being people in the Administration. All of those people were part of the first Gulf War...

I recommend looking through the rest of "the charges" area, or rather just look over the charges and read further into them if you see something that catches your eye. You'll see how the Gulf War was basically a staged event, and it broke the Iraqi people, military and infrastructure.

With this nasty defeat the Iraq people also had to contend with a UN based sanction, which was put into place in 1990. While some people might believe the sanctions were there to stop the "evil Saddam" from unleashing his doom...

http://www.globalpolicy.org/securit...on/indexone.htm
The sanctions remained in place thereafter, despite a harsh impact on innocent Iraqi civilians and an evident lack of pressure on Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein.

Sad isn't it? But that's not all..

The US and UK governments always made it clear that they would block any lifting or serious reforming of sanctions as long as Hussein remained in power.

So basically it would HAVE to stay in place because the US and UK governments wouldn't let it be removed or changed seriously.

With the creation of the Oil-For-Food Program by the UN, people were basically giving Saddam items and money in exchange for oil. Yes..that's right. Oil. Again, the Iraqi Oil appears to be manipulated and taken and Iraq can't do a thing about it(or, anything that wouldn't result in them getting spanked senseless).

Now after all of this we have the new Gulf War. The second Bush takes office, and all of the previous Gulf War people we know and love show up again. In January of 2001 they talk about plans relating to the invasion of Iraq, and of course we also have information at this time that Iraq might not have "WMD", not to mention that if he did they would've deterorieted(or at least a large portion would've) to a point that they'd be worthless and unusable. This means Iraq is nothing more than a weak country, trying to recover while under heavy sanctions, and has no real weapons with which to deter people from invading. America knows this, the UK somewhat knows this...

Iraq gets invaded, Saddam ousted and the sanctions removed. Now Bush wants the debts Iraq has to just vanish, which would help make it so the oil coming from Iraq is actually worth something.

On top of that, remember how America wanted a pipeline in Iraq but Saddam said no? Yeah..well it turns out that Bush wants to make that pipeline now...which would benefit Iraq and America.

Plus:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story...234231,00.html
The interim authority now has full control of Iraq's oil industry; an oil minister, Thamir Ghadbhan, has been appointed; and a 14,000-strong security force has been established to protect key installations and pipelines.

Iraq has the second largest oil reserves in the world (only Saudi Arabia has more) but, according to George Bush, is producing 2.5m barrels a day, in contrast with the 3.7m barrels a day it managed at its 1979 peak. The oil ministry wants to hit 3m barrels a day by the end of the year.

I think it says all that needs saying...
