We are dealing with extremists here. They want us (the infidel) gone or converted to their brand of idealistic Isalm. Their game plan was inplace long before we went into Iraq to dispose of a murdering regime and long before 9/11. The world trade centre in New York was attacked by a group that shares the same ideals in 1993 on Feb 26.

Granted, Iraq can be used as an excuse fan to the flames, but, it doesn't matter what goverment is in inplace, those savages will still bomb, maim, and kill. They are now our mortal enemy and we must do what ever we can to eradicte them. Even if it does mean adopting a shoot to kill policy

The west needs the resources that the middle east provides. Those resources will be depleted in another 15-20 years and it is then that they can have their precious sand.

Muslim loooking guy? Check
wearing a large heavy coat in the hot weather? Check.
In the same Subway system that was attacked twice in 1 month? Check.
Running from police? Check.

They were justified. Sorry.

How often are American police are killed by a brown man? Oh yeah every day. SO its no wonder theyre on edge when some guy keep reaching into his pants for a gun/wallet/meatballsandwich the cops shoot even after they tell him to get his hands where they can see them.

Plain clothed cops still carry badges to identify themselves when needed. And most suicide bombers dont wear explosives on thier backs. I dont think anyone would have ran, I mean I wouldnt... when someone identifies as the police and they flash a gun and badge you stop. This will be painted as an execution by the liberal crazies, but all this was was a tragic mistake, this numbnut however did bring it on himself.

I think its very interesting that the English people responding to this thread say it was a justified killing, while the Americans tend to think it wasn't.

Personally, I don't think it was justified, but I can understand why it happened. Its a tragedy, and its going to play hell on the already troubled relations with Muslims.

I actually think that is their point. If the terrorists can get a few more innocent brown people shot, they are eventually going to make the non-extremist muslims choose a side. And they are going to have to choose between white people who shoot them, or fellow muslims... its not a bad recruiting strategy.

I can partly see why they did it.

Running was infinitely stupid. In such a crowded place, with such a strong police presence everywhere, even if there were blokes chasing me, I wouldn't run. And of they shouted 'armed police' I'd lay face down on the floor in a heartbeat.

Also, what with these most recent bombs not going off properly, it would be understandable if he had been wired, to wait, rather than run along try to cause an explosion which may not have worked.

The public knows there's a shoot to kill, Isreali style in the head, but five? That makes them seem panicky, out of control. Two shots in the head would have done the job, and people would have understood more.

Still, what if he had been carrying explosives and detonated them?
Any coppers in the area who'd passed up the chance to shoot him int he head would have been hung drawn and quatered. There's too much at stake.

why would you lay down? it might just make it easier for them to shoot you 5 times. its just funny that they had him pinned, he wasnt going anywhere. they could have EASILY checked to see if he was wearing anything like a bomb. but no. kill first, apologise later. yeah the public knows about the shoot to kill thing but then again he was somewhat new in the country. a resident for 3 years. perhaps he didnt know and got freaked out when a group of guys not dressed like police came running at him with guns. maybe his english was limited and sucked really bad.

all in all, everyones just going to post their opinions on this matter and no one is going to change anyones mind.

That's the kind of behaviouir that used to get cops killed in coutries such as Israel. How do you know the bomb is not wired to go off if the jacket is removed?

This is being spun both ways by the media depending on sides, and it can't be both. Some say he was well integrated in the country, a 'good' immigrant trying his best, spoke the language well and worked a trade. Others say he was confused and unaware. It can't be both.

He was working as an electrician. I personally wouldn't employ anyone whom didn't have a basic understanding of the english language, especially someone claiming to be an electrican. Also, his work visa had just run out which could be another explanation why he run. All this speculation is just bollocks really. What it boils down to is that a suspected terrorist/suicide bomber, when challenged, decided to bolt, that must have set alarm bells ringing in the officers heads. What sealed his fate was heading for the tube and jumping the barrier, thats what got him killed. I think the police acted professionally and correctly...

These are dangerous times in the UK now. No chances can be taken in the protection of it civilains.

It's funny how it's the Americans who are condemning our police, whereas most of us Brits seem to agree it was a tragedy- but an unavoidable tragedy.

We Brits all seem to be pretty much in concurrance about this, I think that's what matters; that we are happy with how our police are dealing with the attacks.

I especially love the title of this thread "the brown dude" yes because he was shot because he was tan, not because he was wearing a heavy jacket in July, fled when questiond, jumped a turnstyle barrier and boarded a train. (in the same subway system that had 2 previous terrorist attacks this month). But yeah those nasty white cops did him in because he was brown.

You know.. it was less than 59 °F / 15 °C on the day he was shot. Everyone was wearing a heavy coat.

The looking arab part sealed the deal for the police who shot him while he was in custody.

It is understandable why they did it how ever it was not justified.
