Daughter Alexandra Pleads to Kerry After Locking in Nomination: 'Will You Please Appreciate This Moment for 10 Seconds?'
NEW YORK, Nov. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- When President Bush's poll numbers surged in April after a press conference where his performance was derided by the press and the chattering classes, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry was baffled, writes Newsweek Assistant Managing Editor Evan Thomas in an exclusive report in Newsweek's special election issue. "He said with a sigh to one top staffer, 'I can't believe I'm losing to this idiot.'"

The November 15 issue "How He Did It" (on newsstands Thursday, November 4) includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes account of the entire presidential campaign reported by a separate Newsweek Special Project team that worked for more than a year on the extraordinary campaign. Highlights from the report:
The "Outlandish" McCain Offer. Kerry's courtship of Senator John McCain to be his running mate was longer-standing and more intense than previously reported. As far back as August 2003, Kerry had taken McCain to breakfast to sound him out to run on a unity ticket. McCain batted away the idea as not serious, but Kerry, after he wrapped up the nomination in March, went back after McCain a half-dozen more times. "To show just how sincere he was, he made an outlandish offer," Newsweek's Thomas reports. "If McCain said yes he would expand the role of vice president to include secretary of Defense and the overall control of foreign policy. McCain exclaimed, 'You're out of your mind. I don't even know if it's constitutional, and it certainly wouldn't sell.'" Kerry was thwarted and furious. "Why the f--- didn't he take it? After what the Bush people did to him...'"
This is something you democrats need to think about. What does it say about the Democratic Party when the presidential nominee thinks he has to get a Republican to run with him in order to win.
Ok as a repulican ( just guessing by your title throwing) you should know there can be reporters that lie to make some one look bad, and also, why the hell does it have to be dem/dem, i mean wouldn't it unite more to have one from each party? I would have voted McCain over Bush, and over Kerry for that matter. McCain is smarter and more honest then either, and people like him, so no wonder there was a rumor he'd run for VP.....for Bush, and Kerry.

It doesn't have to be dem/dem, but that wouldn't unite anything. It would piss off more people in both parties.
McCain being smarter? Who knows?
McCain being more honest is a crock. Right now he can speak his mind more openly because he's a senator with a safe seat. Remember when he ran in the Republican primary in 2000? When he went to the south he campaigned as Mr. Conservative. He did the usual pandering to the audience in front of him that all politicians do. It was the similar to what Lieberman did as Gore's VP. Lieberman became Mr. Liberal, even though he isn't.
John Kerry- "I can't believe I'm losing to this idiot." My response to John Kerry- I can't believe he lost anything to that idiot either...
John Kerry- "Why the fuck didn't he take it? After what the Bush people did to him...'' My response to John Kerry- After Bush's campaign in 2000 said...
-McCain had been brainwashed by the Chinese and turned into a real-life Manchurian canidate when he was a POW in Vietnam.
-McCain's adopted daughter from Bangladesh was a love child he had with a black prostitute.
-The McCain family had an abortion.
-McCain infected his wife with a venereal disease and drove her to become a drug addict.
-McCain's wife was mobbed up.
-McCain went AWOL when it came to veterans issues when infact he co-sponsored the Agent Orange Act that became law.
-McCain "solicits money from lobbyists with interests before his committee and pressures agencies on behalf of contributors." When NBC reported Bush had raised five times as much in contributions from lobbyists.
-McCain wanted to erase the anti-abortion plank from the GOP platform.
-McCain had fought against breast cancer research. (When Bush was told that McCain's very own sister was a breast cancer survivor in remission, his response was "All the more reason to remind him what he said about the research that goes on here." Making even that stupid little ass goblin Robert Novak say, "That really is going too far.")
...
I have to wonder why the fuck McCain didn't take it either.
These republican sheeps...
"Personally, I'm in favor of democracy, which means that the central institutions of society have to be under popular control. Now, under capitalism, we can't have democracy by definition. Capitalism is a system in which the central institutions of society are in principle under autocratic control. "
I, for one, would love to see a dem/rep running mate...
although I think if we could forget labels and focus on individual policies then this country wouldn't suffer soo much division, "United We Stand" my ass...
I'm really amazed that Dubya won as well...

true true....
I'd vote if it made a difference in my state, but we haven't gone anyway but republican for about 50 years...
And we only get 3 electorial votes, blah!
I was kinda hoping that the US public would just say fuck it and elect a chimpanzee or something, at least the chimp would provide more intelligent statements then that GW Bush guy...
But we're what? Thirteenth in the world for education?
Oh well, back to the world of non-pixel conversations,
oh, and Synikul, I'll be convincing my "no-longer-minor" roomate to pick me up some Whaler's Vanilla Rum tonight!
Actually, Web, we have a Dem/Rep co-op right now I think. Although I can't say that I have read in our papers if they really one or not. Hopefully Martz and the rest are goners.
I should go read the paper.

True, all of them lie to win. Though Bush's team did some dirty tricks agaisnt him in 2000, i would have voted for him cause he doesnt always do as he is advised.

Although I don't really care for him, bush would probably make a better president if he would get rid of Cheney and Rumsfeld. I mean hell they helped screw nixon(though I will admit alot he did on his own) they managed to screw for and bush sr. I mean Regan was the first republican president to serve 2 terms since Teddy Roosevelt, and he didn't have rumsfeld and cheney working for him. I am amazed that Dubya got elected to a second term myself. anyways. Its crap like the bush vs. kerry shit that make me glad I don't support dems or repubs. They are both groups of idiots, and the can both get screwed.
