Recently a U.S House committee approved a decree calling the mass killings of more than one million Armenians in 1915, a genocide. This was done despite warnings from President Bush that it would do alot of damage to America's relationship with Turkey.
I'm happy about this, but it did take them a while to make a decision, and it pisses me off that Bush would want to have a good relationship with a government who killed millions of innocent people, denied it, tried to cover it all up and killed or imprisoned people who spoke the truth.

I don't know why they picked now to adopt this resolution - the timing could not be worse, Turkey is our homie, and we need it as a "stable area" in the middle east for strategic purposes.

I am a big fan of recognizing human rights violation, and I think that despite how long ago it was - we needed to recognize it as a genocide to bring closure to the millions of lives that it still affects even 80+ years later.

Seems to me like a pretty stupid move, alienate one of the few allies in a region that pretty much hates us. But then again, I'm sure that was the point.

This latest Congress has gotten pretty damn good at voting in resolutions that don't mean a damn thing...I suppose everyone has to have a talent.

Mitt Romney--- He is a fucking MORMON!!!! For christ sake I LIVE in Utah.... you guys do NOT want our liquor laws nationalized Though he is quite the gun nut and I can side with that.... but it is only because the mormons were shot out of Missouri and they never wanted that to happen again... and it will not as long as they have guns

Truman and FDR were far more than socialists. Some of their programs perhaps but at that time in history it was needed to expand our population. I was talking about their ingenuity, ability to think outside the political party box, and absolute strength to maintain their vision throughout their presidencies.

Reagan was sociable, charasmatic, and an overall bad ass politician. I do not think we will ever see another president like him although it is what is needed.
Unlike Bush, Reagan would have bombed the fuck out of Iraq until he killed Saddam and than left them to their own devices with a little help from our covert operation teams. Mainly because Reagan was smart enough to realize that the United States although the most powerful nation on the earth cannot win a multi-pronged war especially without the aid of allies.
